Wade Into The Darkness - The story of how Matthew Wade conquered Day/Night Test cricket despite debilitating colour blindness and lack of coordination....

edit

Then I remembered that he's only just legally bigger than a dwarf... he really is pushing shit uphill

It is interesting, it goes back a step though, it was started by the Australian media - the ICC are a joke though, I see Misbah has been suspended for slow over rates - he's not available anyway, and of course slow over rates are the norm so suspensions need to be handed down much earlier - not to mention all the other bullshit behaviour many have been allowed to get away with and given warnings, fines, suspended suspensions etc

Not sure what to make of the de Villiers situation, does seem a slippery-ish slope, plenty chewing gum etc... but no doubt the respected ICC leaders will come down with a clownish decision either way

The ICC CEO is Dave Richardson, a South African.

Yes, I know...

My point (in the other thread too) is he was only cited because the Australian media played footage of it over and over inside the 5 day window - the umpires and match referee didn't cite him initially. The 5 day window is a joke as similar footage is now circulating of Kohli and Warner, yet they haven't been cited because it's too late. Williamson was certainly chewing gum and shining the ball heavily the other day, Smith too...

The process is stupid, especially if as a cynic I could suggest home media might simply sit on footage until after the 5 day window, yet latch on to others (perhaps touring players) - just too arbitrary and amateur IMO - mind you it is the ICC.

I have no problem with them coming down on it, but in a clear and systematic way, not in response to 'journalists'

Paine isn't even keeping for Tasmania at the moment. In fact he didn't even play the last Shield game

Not what I said, comprehension not your strong suit - just that the ICC should look at how this came about and be more systematic about it - we've had others doing the same thing and not cited because it was >5 days later

and I am with Gillespie - storm and tea cup stuff anyway

Anybody know whether Wade leaves his guide dog at square leg or just next to where he leaves the helmet, between deliveries.

And, what's the penalty if the ball hits the dog, or the dog picks up the ball?

  • This will be Steven Smith's 17th Test as captain, and will take his tally to 28 players used in those Tests. By comparison, Steve Waugh used only 28 players in his entire 57-Test captaincy career
  • This will be the 12th consecutive Test in which Australia have used a different XI from their previous match
From Cricinfo preview - telling stats

Yep. Steve Waugh, while one of my favourite players was blessed to captain a side that contained the best spinner the world has seen, a keeper that changed how the game was played, a great batsman in Ricky Ponting an all time great fast bowler in Mcgrath.

Throw in Hayden, Langer, Waugh, Martin, Gillespie, Lee, Mcgill etc and the side he captained was one that basically comes around once every hundred years. A lobotomised emu would have had success with that side.

In comparison Smith has a hot and cold warner and starc as his best players to build a team around and a host of retirements.

Throw in selectors resting fast bowlers and that figure is always going to bloated.

Well you shouldn't worry because according to the official team list he's at 5 and Handscombe is at 6!
