At least we can see some talent and a future unlike picking PROVEN duds like Smarsh
Although to his credit he batted well in the first innings at Perth, this constant jumping in and out of the side over the past few years disrupts continuity and the ability for the side to consistently play the same test XI. At 33 (hard to believe he's been around for a decade and a half on the Sheffield Shield scene, making his state debut only one season after Michael Clarke), Shaun Marsh has had enough chances and sustained too many injuries. Time to move forward.
Mitchell Marsh, funnily enough, has played the same number of test matches (19) as his brother, even though he debuted only a couple of years ago. Time for the selectors to ditch the fixation on picking an all-rounder at #6, which they've had since the 2005 Ashes loss. Mitch is NOT an all-rounder; neither his batting nor bowling performances have warranted him to be selected as an all-rounder, let alone as either a batsman or bowler.
It's clear as the light of day that both of them have been selected solely off the back of the 'Marsh' name, and hopefully this 'restructuring' of the test team in this Adelaide match signifies a change in direction from the selectors.
