The South Africans have used 13 referrals this series, 2 right and 11 wrong. We have used 7, 2 right and 5 wrong...that tells me two things. Firstly, that South Africa have no idea when to refer and when not to. Secondly, what use is the system if only 4 out of 20 decisions have been overturned? That's 20%...is that a strike rate that justifies the system? I don't think it is...

Affirmative on your first theory. Not sure on the second, it's really there for the first decision on Katich. Not your hit and hope appeals like the second. I think it's a case of your first theory overpowering the second, the Saffas are just dumb as dumb can be.

The funniest moment in the first test was the 2nd time Hughes gloved one down the legside and they didn't challenge, the coach watched the replay in the rooms and Smith looked up to him and the coached raised his finger to say it was out. Smith couldn't believe it and had a sook for the next couple of overs.

Imraan Khan has dropped an absolute sitter. Couldn't have got an easier one in practice drills and Kat gets another life

Poor Ntini really deserves a wicket. Khan joins the list of debut players to drop a catch KP being the top.

Wow, they are dreadful. Zimbabwe would beat them at the moment. Katich will get 200 now.

Hughes has been almost as lucky as Kat...I make that 4 inside edges that could have hit the stumps, including two that seemingly defied physics to miss lol

Was reading The Proteas have hatched a plan to get Hughes out

Maybe when he gets another century it will come to fruition

22.4 Harris to Hughes, OUT, Harris says bugger off you fielders, I will do it myself. It was flighted around the off stump, Hughes went for the sweep but failed to connect. It would have hit the stumps all right but was the point of contact outside off? I will confirm after I get hold of a replay. And yes Hughes was struck outside the off stump. He didn't ask for the review, though PJ Hughes lbw b Harris 33 (64b 4x4 0x6) SR: 51.56
