Actually I think Bazal is pretty much on the money and may even have been reading my mind ... stop reading my mind bazal!!!!!

Anyway, Johnson is improving without doubt but you know you're in trouble when he is leading the attack.

You're a f**king moron, Bazal. Johnson is a genuine wicket taker and he openly admitted that he cannot swing the ball and has given up trying. No need to drop him IMO.

LOL....you like that word don't you? Not very inventive I must say...Also, I wasn't suggesting we drop Johnson now, rather what should have happened in an ideal world. Although judging from your inanely simplistic repertoire of "insults" and your obviously short temper, I'd say the intellect to realise this probably eludes you....

Siddle has taken a 5/ today, sure....but did he bowl that well? I don't think he did as well as his figures suggest. What he did well was use the conditions, and that's worth praise...but really all he did was put the ball in the right spot and let a cracking and crumbling pitch do the work. Again, he deserves praise for using the conditions the way he did, but he's shown no real signs of being able to use the ball rather than the wicket. Not his fault, picking a player for Test cricket as a front line medium pacer with 12 FC games under his belt is a poor call, because he's not going to have the experience or guile to get world class batsmen out.
.

Umm, Siddle, medium pace? High mid 130s.....

I hope Troy Cooley can earn the big dollars he is being paid and teach Johnson to swing the ball.. The thing is he takes wickets, it doesn't matter how.

I think because he sprays the ball around, batsmen find it harder to get into a rhythm facing him.. Who's eyes don't light up when presented with countless full balls wide of offstump.. His angle to the right handers and pace (he isn't slow) contribute to the wickets..

Spot on Bazal although I wouldn't drop Johnson. Let him work on it in the nets as he does have the ability to produce that good ball to get a wicket.

Siddle is solid enough but hes not extreme fast, so his pace is in the inbetween zone and he doesn't have swing, reverse or height. So I do wonder about him at times, will his type of bowling work overseas in particular India?

Bollinger not much swing which was a worry as I did expect him to swing it but he looked alright. If he can't start to swing it though he won't get too far in Test cricket.

Hauritz just doesn't have the Paul Harris feel for me, maybe it's our crap playing of spin but when Haurie is bowling he doesn't look anywhere near as threatening as him. Maybe time to put on a left arm orthdox spinner or leggie.

Yeah you can't drop Johnson at the moment and fair enough, he's playing well in all areas of the game. But down the track it may be an option that needs to be looked at. If he can't at least get a ball that swings back at the right hander, and say Bollinger or Hilfenhaus are waiting in the wings and bowling genuine swinging deliveries, then IMO Johnson will have to make way. He's a tremendous talent but if he can't develop some swing then I personally think he becomes predictable, and at Test level a predictable bowler simply has no penetration.

It is not as if Bollinger has got one to swing back into the right handers this match

yes he has, or couldn't you tell from the members stand

Notch is very limited and yes its a worry when he is our main strike bowler, he simply relies on the fact that he is a left hander and bowls across the right handed batsmen. He is very ordinary against left handers like Smith and Duminy and never troubled Duminy or Steyne on the second last day of the second test match.

He will do much better when he starts to swing the ball again, especially to left handers.

Hauri never gets the ball above the batsmen's eyeline and cant spin the ball, he will never trouble world class batsmen.

One of the funniest things I have ever heard on radio.. Drew Morphett mentioned buying his parents a Peter, Paul and Mary double album for Christmas when Kerry said he bought a Peter Paul and Mary DVD but when he got home he found that it wasn't the singing group but a different kind of DVD and it was another sort of threesome.. In between his laughs he mentioned that "Peter was just a pool cleaner" amongst all the innuendo..

Obviously he made the whole thing up but I was in stitches that he was describing this 'porn dvd' on daytime radio during a cricket telecast..

Yeah that was pure gold :) I've come to clean zee pooool. If only they'd podcast that piece

f**king Warnie lmao. He's hilarious.

Greig: "Graeme Smith had trouble eating breakfast, with an injured right elbow and broken left hand."

Warnie: "I don't think it's done him any harm."

owned.

I wouldn't judge him too much on that particular innings - unfortunately he has about 14 poor ones prior that add up to very little.

We should be talking about the end of a particularly good career with that wicket...... he, the captain and selectors keep talking about how important his next innings is and how he is close to finding form. Nothing really suggests he is that close and he deserves to be dropped. However, the selectors will probably put him on the plane to Sth Africa.
