Great effort, jobs not done though... 500 plus on the cards especially with India looking a different team without the pied piper out there

I think Mitch can safely ask for a quote to get his baggy green encased in a glass box to put on display with the rest of his memorabilia in his pool room.... He won't be needing it for active duty again....

Or am I giving Hohns and Co too much credit?

The gross level of nepotism shown to the Marsh brothers has been a disgrace. I just can't believe Mitch especially waltzed back into the test XI when his form in domestic cricket over the summer (and also the BBL) was....well, you name it.

Hohns should've NEVER been called back into the selection panel in the first place. I know he was chairman of selectors over one of the best squads in test cricket history, but he also made numerous dubious decisions during his reign which made me more than happy to see the back of him in 2006. As much as I don't like Cameron White, it was very ironic of Hohns to have a crack at White's overall career form when Hohns' test and first-class statistics were somewhat ordinary.

These two can bat most of today if they don't lose concentration. India just going through the motions waiting for something to happen

To go that long without a signature brain fart deserves massive props. A big step that hopefully proves to be somewhat of a turning point in his career. Feck knows we need a bloke at 6 who can hold on to bat rather than a hack of all trades.

As good as his innings was, Maxy is not our long term number 6.

Kurtis Patterson is the one.

However, we did need an allrounder at 6 in India.

Crucial the tail gets some runs around Smithy. Need over 450 here.

Brilliant hundred from Maxwell, can't complain about him getting out too much, but geez India were starting to look ragged...

Looked likely to happen, his concentration was waning.

Can't rag him too much, we were in trouble when he came in and he played well.

Now let's see what Matthew Marsh can do.

On the flipside, the ball he got out to ripped quite a bit. Signs that the pitch is already starting to go.

Very important to make what we can while it's good but I still think by this time tomorrow (or maybe the second session) this will be a totally different wicket
