Credit where it's due we have got almost everything right in this test (bar the dopey decision to send out O'Rourke when we did).

Shame it's come when the series was already lost.

Pom’s have done really well giving Bethell a chance, he looks very promising

Brook still has some things to prove imo, his innings in the second test was spectacular. But 5 drops in the first is an important context

Really liking O’Rourke, been a long time since we had someone able to bowl genuinely hostile spells, probably Bond and then Hadlee…. Not sure I’d count Wagner, lol, Boult could bowl sone quick spells. Add Sears too, could be fun.

Bethell looses the plot…

Brook 0 and 1

The decline begins?

Poms 4/133
I looked at Brook's stats

He has only played Test Cricket in England, Pakistan & New Zealand.

So feasted on highways in Pakistan and some luck in NZ.

Hasn't played in Sri Lanka, South Africa, India or Australia yet.

Thats when ill judge him more clearly.

His BBL average with the Hurricanes was 6.28

44 runs from 7 digs

Mitchell santner was he injured in the first 2 tests.

England still have issues with spin if Santner is taking 7/91 on that wicket

Lol England got absolutely thrashed.

Are they still having trouble understanding how the WTC works? Losing test matches is a factor they should consider.

They can't understand why there's no additional points for entertainment and morality

Pretty embarrassing 1st test from us tbh

The wankfest around Southee led by Stevenson was a bit much, he should have just given him a blowjob and got it over with. Boult and Wagner were treated poorly in contrast, and I fully expect Williamson to announce his retreat some point when nobody is looking, and there’s no fanfare

Boult chose hit and giggle over test cricket so I'm fine with Southee getting a proper send off over him tbh. You're right about the difference between the treatment of Southee versus someone like Wagner though. I won't miss Southee being an automatic choice in the test side, but he was a great servant overall and 90% of his career was excellent.

Good to get a win in his last test, does leave a sense of what could have been in this series if we didn't lose the plot in the first match.

Boult and others were told he’d never play again, very quickly that changed for Williamson (of course) and Conway (lol), Boult should have been selected when available we simply don’t have that depth

I’ve got no problem with a respectful send off, but was annoyed by the mindless sycophancy from Stevenson. Southee has had a great career, but Boult and probably Wagner were consistently better, and Henry is showing that perhaps he deserved a more consistent chance earlier
