All of England's forwards are good enough to be standouts in the NRL. Too bad about the halves.
English big men have a good reputation here in the NRL. I rated Dennis Betts with us. Morley, Burgess bros, Graham, Gareth (I think his name was played for West Tigers) etc the've all been hard men.

Gareth Ellis. Whitehead and Hodgson great too
Thats it Gareth Ellis, he had a good season in an entertaining year from that Tigers team. I didnt know Whitehead was English, thing with Whitehead for me was he could go from supergreat to ordinary. Good player though. Lets hope to see a lot of Hodgson cos thats a good thing and something Im looking forward to.

He's good, just a little injury prone. All of England's forwards are good enough to be standouts in the NRL. Too bad about the halves.

Williams really stood up at the back end of the SL season, his semi final performance in particular was game changing.

Widdop is dog average and gets a free pass simply due to being in the nrl. He's not far off the worst half in first grade for 2016.

He certainly hasn't had a great season has Widdop. I like Williams, especially when he takes on the line regularly with his footwork and strength. Needs to improve his passing game, takes the wrong option too many times and gets a bit confused

Yep Whitehead came through at Bradford before going to the Catalans and then onto the Raiders

Tom was brilliant last year against the Kiwis and bar a broken cheekbone George would/should have a Clive Churchill medal to his name.

Yeah but that was last year. What has either of them done for anyone lately?

They're too busy kissing their own muscles, and attempting to "rap" (very, very badly may I add).

I'd like to see them start with Williams/Gale in the halves. At least against France & NZ, if they haven't fired give Wippod a run. He shouldn't be a walk up start after the season he's had though.

we've missed a trick not selecting matty smith imo

the wigan combo of smith & williams could have been our default/fallback option if other combos don't click

id give widdop & gale a crack against france, but widdop really needs a rocket up his arse,he needs to change how he plays, you know he's not that much smaller than michael morgan, like a inch and a big meal, smaller..

if widdop can start playing like morgan, and he can,he used to play direct, now he runs sideways..it needs beating out of him!,then he'll be worth his place....but the sideways crabbing..nah lad

Gale over Matty Smith is an interesting choice.

Widdop is one of those players who seems to have incriminating pictures of selectors.

I know Farrell had a great GF for Wigan but Bateman has to start at left second row. He is a quality player and is exactly the type of player we need against the Aussies: tough, uncomprising, difficult to tackle and respects nobody on the field. A back 3 of him, Whitehead and S Burgess would be the best we've had in a long time. Farrell or Ferres off the bench.

I'd also have Lomax at FB, Watkins and Percival in the centres with Williams (SO) and Gale (SH) in the halves. It would be the most attack minded England side in a long time:

1. Lomax
2. McGilvary
3. Watkins
4. Percival
5. Hall
6. Williams
7. Gale
8. Graham
9. Hodgson
10. G Burgess
11. Whitehead
12. Bateman
13. S Burgess (c)

14. T Burgess
15. Hill
16. Farrell/Ferres
17. Clarke
