AUSTRALIA has wrapped up the Fourth Test inside an hour on the Fifth day to win the Border-Gavaskar series 4-0.
India's misery ended at 11.28 local time when Umesh Yadav was caught behind from Nathan Lyon (4-63 from 21.4 overs).
The final act of the 298-run triumph was seen by more than 10,000 South Australians, who were let in free today, to push the match attendance past the 100,000 mark.
Peter Siddle's five wickets in the first innings earned him the Man of the Match award and skipper Michael Clarke was named Man of the Series.
Resuming on 6-166 with Ishant Sharma on two and Wriddhiman Saha yet to score, India's first casualty came in the third over today.
Sharma fell to a superb Ryan Harris delivery that pitched just outside off and left the Indian tailender, who did well to edge to Brad Haddin.
It was a fitting reward for Harris (3-41 from 19 overs), who has been fast and unerringly accurate here and in Perth without taking bags of wickets.
Saha succumbed in the next over, driving at a Peter Siddle outswinger that was not full enough for the stroke. He too edged to Haddin.
Zaheer Khan was uncharacteristically watchful for several overs before he smashed what he thought was a four, but ended up a frenzied two after the Indians rested on their bat handles and were aghast to see the ball stop short of the rope.
Zaheer thumped Siddle to the point boundary in the next over then repeated the dose over cover.
A few lusty blows later he was caught by Dave Warner from Ben Hilfenhaus for 15.
Yadav was caught Haddin bowled Lyon, giving the off-spinner four wickets for the innings and five for the match, including VVS Laxman in both innings.
