Travesty that Smarsh got in ahead of Oozie.

I bet they keep the useless prick for the Ashes.

I can see it now

"Shaun had a couple of very useful knocks in India despite injury so we feel he deserves a chance over Usman, who hasn't played test cricket since the last home summer..."

200 lead would be nice
It would have to take a Pujara-Rahane partnership to get over 200 lead, and given how fragile our batting has been this series, I wouldn't hold up high hopes on it.

Best outcome for the remainder of today would be to not lose a wicket in this final session and score 80-100 runs to have a 140-160 lead at stumps.

Do these muppets understand what umpires call is? No way should a team keep their review if it comes up umpires call. It doesn't mean the ball was hitting the stumps, it means the decision is within an accepted margin of error.....the review is still wrong.

150 I'd say gives us an outside shot. And the best we can hope for now is an outside shot.

Well, Australia nearly defended 154 in the 2001 Chennai decider. India just got over the line with 2 wickets in hand.

But then again, you can't compare Cummins/Hazlewood/O'Keefe/Lyon to McGrath/Gillespie/Miller/Warne. And that catch Mark Waugh took to dismiss Laxman is one of the best I've ever seen in the final stages of a test match.

I think you can absolutely compare Hazelwood and Cummins to McGrath and Gillespie....and Lyon and SOK to Miller. Warnie the outlier but he was generally rubbish in India anyway

In India, McGrath and Gillespie both took 33 wickets @ 21.30 and 21.73 respectively. Outstanding records for pace bowlers in the sub-continent.

from memory there was a very plumb lbw given ot out when Harbhajan was batting, would have made it very interesting only a few runs remained

That 2001 series was one of the best test series (along with the 2005 Ashes, maybe slightly better as that was the best Aussie squad since the 1948 Invincibles, and on a 16 test match winning streak) I've seen in my lifetime, but India definitely got a lot of assistance from umpiring decisions in the 2nd and 3rd tests. 2 of Harbhajan's 3 wickets in his hat-trick were not out, and thankfully neutral umpires for test matches were introduced the following year. Crowds and atmosphere were amazing; something that sadly has been lost for test matches in India thanks to the rise of the IPL.
