Anyone talking that knock down by blaming the ground or the pitch is robbing de Villiers of his genius....

Nobody watching the game could be knocking him. He would have hit most of his 6's at the MCG. He was hitting perfect yorkers for 4 with ease.

Without a doubt....total genius.

In saying that, I do not think there is a more batsman friendly international pitch on Eath than Wanderers.

Crazy hitting. Gotta be the first time there's been 3 centuries in an innings too?

That makes no sense, its not possible to hit a perfect yorker for 4,a perfect yorker would result in the batsmen not hitting the ball more than 1 metre.

Why? There's nothing wrong with the odd batsman friendly ODI pitch, particularly if both sides are a good chance of chasing big scores. The Windies aren't, obviously....

De Villiers is simply a genius who made the wicket look flatter than it was, and I can guarantee that purely because there is no wicket on earth as flat as he made that pitch look.

Just a week ago, they played a 20/20 game on that same pitch. South Africa posted a total of 240+. In reply, the West Indies ran down that total WITH EASE.

The knock was absolutely brilliant, no doubt. But to say he'd have the same success on a pitch like the MCG is absolute bullshit.

And Gayle played an absolute blinder in that T20. Again, what's the problem with the odd pitch that allows for the very best players to be their very best? He may not have played that knock at the MCG, but no one else would have been good enough to play it at the Wanderers either

it doesn't matter if this was being played at north sydney oval, you still have to hit the f**king ball

Yeah it does matter, you can block the ball and it goes for 4 at North Sydney Oval cos its so tiny, you won't block a 4 at a proper ground,Scoring a century at North Sydney is the equivalent of scoring 5 at a proper ground where block's don't go for 4..

The knock was absolutely brilliant. I like cricket to be a decent contest between bat and ball. At that ground, that contest simply does not exist. McGrath, Lillie, Warne, Akram would all get carted at this ground. They would be nothing more than bowling machines on a pitch that offers sweet f**k all.

Genius. Freak. All well deserved titles.

Great batsman. One of the best all-round fielders I've ever seen. Quality wicketkeeper.

Basically, he's one of the greatest cricketers of all-time.
