How did a thread about fiddy get to three pages...

as for fid getting on and reading this, that would require him to do two things:

1) Learn to read
2) know what rugby league is.

I think that, purely as an entertainer, he's quite good. His concert was much better than I had anticipated.

For a rapper he's not very articulate. His technique needs improving IMO.

I see your point - I always feel like his style doesn't fit in with his beats...

I heard Will Smith's "Tell Me Why" today...Blew me away...So much better lyrically than a 50 Cent song...Sorry Curtis! lol

He did get on and wrote a pretty sweet verse dissing the playa haters. You probably should choose your words carefully or you might be next.

However my opinion is if it wasn't for reggae there'd be no rap or hip hop. Obviously theres comparissons between South Central Los Angeles and the slums of Kingston Jamaica in terms of social problems and that leads to artists wanting to get away from drugs, gangs etc turning to music.

Modern 'Rap' started in NYC not LA.

True 'Gangsta Rap' certainly started in LA, although most people who do dislike the genre will associate any hip-hop that isn't 'Pop' as Gangsta Rap (Such as Tupac's music for instance) even though it has nothing to do with gangs whatsoever.

^^You reckon? Guys like Kool G Rap, Big Daddy Kane and the like were gangster in the 80s...I think the fact was these guys (NWA, Ice T etc) werent East Coast. They came from the sunny west.

I love gangsta rap, I always will. But the sh*t thats on the radio isnt gangsta. No way in hell is that trash on any level with Ice Cube, Ice T, Big Daddy Kane, Big L, Biggie, PAc etc etc etc.

Ice Cube rocks!

I was listening to some 2-Pac the other day...Blew me away. The guy had a way of writing great songs (at least lyrically). "Dear Mama" is a fantastic song...

I was also listening to Will Smith's new album - it's pretty good. He's got some sweet lyrics. Even if he ain't anything near gangsta lol.

yer i love tupac an biggie, i have tupac
better dayz
unitll the end of time
resurection
loyal to the game
The closest place for my to buy cds is over 100ks away so its pretty hard for me to keep up. I think biggie is one of the best at turning a story for eg going to buy milk..... into a funny rap song.

You mean as opposed to every rock n roll star in history who has ever been a drug addict and glorified it's use?

Yep, rappers are so damn terrible...

most of rock is telling you not to do drugs
most of rapis telling you TO do drugs

In fact, my uncle is an ex-police sergeant and he's told me many times - the most common occurrences of domestic violence occur in affluent areas, usually by white males (in Australia) who are more likely to listen to rock and/or pop music than gangsta rap, judging by their lifestyle...
the biggest load of sh*t i have ever read

Whatever.

I don't recall asking anyone to verify what he told me.

Certainly the West Coast artists and in particular NWA brought the Genre out into the mainstream during the mid 80's, but if you go back and look to the late 70's, it was all NYC, not LA
