they've been doing it all series though. how many times does it have to keep happening (while they aren't scoring runs) before they realise that they are doing the same thing wrong all the time.

There is a lot of consistency about how each player has got out in this series, especially Ponting, Clarke, Smith and Watson.

Pretty bad start by our bowlers.
So inconsistent.
Johnson would bowl a couple of good balls and then a crap ball that is put away with ease. Can't build pressure.

And Hilfenhaus is the most innocuous bowler ever. This should be his last test for Australia

I thought Beer played grade cricket for years, but only cracked state cricket this year after moving to WA since he couldn't get a run in the Vic side?

Either way, it is a joke selection seemingly based on Warnie making a comment that he liked him and little else

Beer's is one of worst, if not THE worst, selection in our team ever.

He averages about 45
Has only played a handful of matches

And the justification for his selection should have led to the immediate dismissal of Hilditch.

I hope Beer proves me wrong and gets a handful of wickets, but what in his history suggests he will.

I'm surprised Strauss didn't walk out in the one day gear

It seems to be the frame of mind he's in.

bring on Watson

Strauss is a f**king BOSS

also how good is billy Bowden, by far the best umpire in the world. We breed em well in NZ

On the game, what are people's thoughts on clarke giving Johnson a taste of the new ball?

Seemed odd to me to open with him and then pull him after 3 measly overs which weren't any worse than the stuff Hilfy was delivering from the other end.

I wouldn't ever do it, but with him having made some runs and with conditions that should suit him I can see why you would think about giving him a spell to see if it was going to be one of his days out.

why are we bowling at middle and leg with the occasional short wide sh*t in between

its obviously not the game plan but it highlights the lack of control these guys have

this is rubbish on a pitch that should suit our bowlers

Surely strauss has taken enough shine off the ball, even if he hasn't, our quicks aren't using the shine properly anyway, bring in the spin.

Give everyone a bowl before tea

We are bowling short because the Saffers had success bowling short to the Poms a few series ago. And our moronic coaching staff decided this should be our bowling strategy too.

I suppose I can understand that logic, but if taking that option I'd think more than 3 overs would have been warranted.

Clarke may well have told Johnson that he was only going to have a half dozen overs at best from the get go though, so who knows.

Either way they are all bowling pies.. They'll have our total chased down by the end of the day at this rate.
