Australias problem at the moment is trying not to get out, the way england are batting is the way aus played up until about 08.

Aus is batting like england did up until 08

When was the last time an Australian top 4 did not score a signle century between them all in an innings in a 5 test series?

Hahahahahahahaha

Not sure what the Aussie batsmen are making of this but they should be embarrassed by how easy Johnson has made it look.

if this pair can put on another 170 odd runs, they'll break the Australian record for an 8th wicket partnership.

A record that has stood since 1907-08 (Hartigan and Hill put on 243 at Adelaide)

I remember one radio commentator making an observation that Johnson is a confidence player - when his confidence is up, he's unstoppable. Let's hope his brilliant 50 gives him confidence and he comes out and bowls well.

Can someone tell me the last time putting the field back and giving away singles once you get to 8 down has worked? It's the dopiest stupidity any captain can do and they all f**king do it. Johnson has played one good innings in 18 months and as soon as Hilfenhaus comes in they stop doing what has been keeping every batsman in the game struggling for runs and offer him easy singles. I will never understand why they think bowling good line and length with a couple of guys saving one and some catching men is a great idea for the first 8 wickets, but spreading the field and easing the pressure is suddenly a great idea when you've almost got them all out.

That's the end of Johnson.

Love watching a couple of tailenders go the tonk. You don't see it enough these days with the modern day tactics of pushing the field back to the good batsman and then attacking the bad batsman.

Sorry Straussy but that's some of the worst captaincy ive ever seen!

It was Johnson and Hilfenhaus, not Gilchrist and Viv.

And even then it's just criminal to be so on the defensive when you have the opposition 8 down for under 200.

Well done Notch. Now prove all the people saying you bowl when when you bat well right. This pitch is almost as made for you as Perth was so swing it son.
