Only taken four Tests to realise their top order was completely out if wack. Bell should have been at three from the start. Anyway, they are so out of form now it doesn't matter.

Borthwick is a top order batsman who can bowl - he's basically England's Smith - so I'm not overly concerned by this.

Have to feel sorry for the bloke

you do, but then watching him field he probably annoys the shit out of any captain...

strange one, very good bowler, hopeless but at least gutsy with the bat, but his fielding is truly beyond a joke

Having watched Carberry, I really can't work that one out - I know Warne's been sucking his dick endlessly but terribly limited and flawed (Warne does seem to be a terrible judge of cricketers btw, he's talked up Carberry and Beer no end, and Glenn Maxwell/Phil WilliamGilbertGrace aside, I am not sure I have seen to worse test cricketers), and while gutsy and doing a job I really don't see what Compton did so wrong... Having Root at 6 is a good idea while he develops, but at the end of the day he's an opener, and offers so much more than Carberry...

That said, the whole English tour from selections on has been f**ked... I'd be shocked if it's not 5-0

Hope Harris can play, but I'd be seriously looking after him, he is seriously good, for mine only Steyn and Philander better (I still have questions over Mr Slave)

The real test for Johnson will be against the batting line up of SA..

The Daily Mail is reporting that Ballance and Borthwick are likely to come in for Carberry and Panesar, with Root to open and Bell to three.

No offence but there is no more disreputable source than the Mail online.

Ian Bell just came out with a pretty mature column on Cricinfo.

Nice to see at least someone in the camp is not having a good old whinge and making excuses about this and that. Just plain admitting they got outclassed.

I think it was KP earlier who was having a moan about the scheduling.
What bollocks, for a guy who picks and chooses whatever cricket he wants to play and also given that Australia not only played in the same back to back Ashes series but also played India in between.

Warnes comments / commentary should be taken with a grain of salt, unless he is conducting a master class on spin bowling.

He played 6 months with Carberry in county cricket, and waffles on how he knows him well. Its obvious Carberry was the one sucking dick back then, for Warne now to return the favour.

Warne is a horrible judge of cricketers. I always thought he would have made a brilliant captain, but if his commentary is anything to go the selectors made the right decision.

And what was going on after the Lee/Piers thing? He could not have sucked up Piers any more than he did. It was seriously cringe-worthy.

Carberry is indeed a strange one. Looked really solid the first few Tests without going on to big scores, but has gone downhill big time. Must be hard for him though - he is a new guy in a team that is falling apart at the seams.
