We played S Africa last summer and lost 1-0. Thought for the most part we outplayed them as well. Will be interesting.

whisper is there will be another retiree, announcement made right after this test
I am really looking forward to South Africa touring Australia. It will be helpful to get a gauge of where Australia are truly at. Obviously, they are on the improve. But have they been made to look a lot better than they are by England being such a rabble? How far away are they from joining South Africa and India in the top tier? How will their batting hold up against a real test?
Also, is this just a blip for England? Prior to this disastrous series, they did win Test series v Australia, India (in India) and us (as well as drawing the series with us at home). Hardly dominant, but they've looked a far cry from achieving those sorts of results in this series. It will be interesting to see how they travel v the West Indies, who themselves look like an internal rabble at the moment.
