The hype for this match is nowhere near as big as the Dogs v Parra, so good to still see strong ticket sales.

I guess having the match on a Saturday night and not a Friday night is a bonus.

Quite honestly every ticket should sell. The Dragons a crowd magnet in a game like this. What Collingwood can do in an AFL qualifier the Dragons can do for us...drag tens of thousands of armchairs out.The Tigers doing well. Seemingly big neutral interest. Everything right for a big big crowd. 75,000 I hope.

Channel Nine extended their news to 1 hour last year's game was so big. Not feeling the same vibe but still big. Being on a Sat definitely does help.

Honestly, anything over 60k for a preliminary final is still a massive crowd by historical standards. Last year's media-hype assisted 74k was something else - and a sign that Sydneysiders can get off their fat arses and get to games in droves when the mood strikes.

The game last year was probably a more even contest than the one expected this year (based solely on the betting returns). That may have helped push the crowd higher last year.

But, but, but, don't you remember 2005?

Last years crowd was pushed along by the Hayne love fest at the Telecrap.

The only thing Rothfield hates more than Sheens is The Dragons. There have been no plethora of stories about how people should get out to the game just talk of expectation of crowd figure.

One also has to factor in the momentum of the Eels run last year. These two sides have been bound for finals football for some time.

Both fan bases know dissapointment so there hasn't been as much overt arrogance as one saw from the Eels and their bandwagon last season.

Anyway it is what it is and I still think a sub 70k crowd would be dissapointing

Rothfield has an unnatural level of hatred for the roosters and smith.

Just loin at the media coverage of tonights prelim... Maybe 1 article per day max, and most have been negative nonsense about Anasta going to x club, or the roosters being undeserving.

I think he might actually commit suicide if we somehow win the grand final

Be thankful, the prick was writing 2-3 a day about us last year.

He should work for sydney confidential instead of being a sports editor. Gutter journalist who has never written anything in his life to benefit the game.

Don't be stupid... remember he made a vow not to publish negative stories on the back page anymore.

Sure, he got them moved to the front page instead, but he got them off the back page damn it!

big sport breakfast said the crowd split based on sales to date was estimated at 52/48 in favour of saints

very close split and a great effort from saints fans given the tiges have two big sydney supporter bases
