Cam White given Man of the Series. Can't argue with it, he was sensational while Ponting was away.

Although you definitely could have given it to Ponting. He was the only one that scored quickly on this pitch.

England are nothing short of a disgrace in ODI's. I fell asleep at 1/100ish and yet they still fell apart

lol at the Clarke bashing. In ODIs:

Clarke Ave 42.94, SR 78.03.
Ponting Ave 42.90 SR 80.67

Scores a whopping two and a half runs less per hundred balls than arguably Australia's best ever ODI batsman.

Have you watched him bat this series though???? He should not be dropped but he needs to pick his game up a bit. He has been hitting the ball well he just needs to hit more gaps.

Clarkes strike rate was fantastic in his first 3 years or so, around 85 or more

The last year or two he has been hovering around 70 or less. Maybe the knowledge and added pressure he is being groomed for the captaincy has had an effect? So he is trying to be less flambuoyant??

Clarke just looks like he is not interested in scoring runs. He plays alot of dots that should be 1's and 2's. I am a huge fan of his but I think his ODI game has been pretty poor over the last 2 years. He is bettern than what he is producing IMO.

Or just maybe he was trying to rebuild the innings after being 2 for sh*t all, and seeing as Ponting was scoring relatively freely there was no real need to take risks...?

This drop in strike rate would have absolutely nothing to do with the Australian team not being as dominant over the past few years, and hence the middle order being under more pressure these days than they were when Gilchrist, McGrath, Hayden etc were playing?

Very true but he still needs to score at a better rate. I know he can bat but 6 runs of 40 balls in a one day game is not really good enough ever.

agree with beads6,

he just needs to score a bit quicker at times, leaves too much pressure for hussey, ferguson and others, especially if he gets out without going on with it, which has been far too often over the past 18 months.

If Ferguson, Hussey, Ponting can score at decent run rates, without being over the top about it, I cant see why Clarke cant build an innings, he has the ability.
