America is actually the original name for the country (although, much like Australia back in the day, it was a collection of autonomous states at that stage), dating back to colonial days. "The Americas" and "North and South America" came from that name, not the other way around. So America or American are technically just as correct as a Pom saying they are from England rather than the UK.

Yeah it was pretty funny...I kinda felt sorry for them in a way though, they were intelligent enough in general conversation but if you started talking about anything outside America they started looking more and more lost and confused. Speaking to their kids, the eldest was in year 10 at the time IIRC and said she had never studied any subject not related to America (aside from the general ones like Maths and Science obviously).

haha omg u wouldn't believe what this d*ck said to me the other night.. I was with the guys that I have been hangin out with and this guy was a family friend of one of them (he was in his 50's or so).. he kept asking the dumbest questions and I jus wanted to snap him upside the head.. they had a bbq and he was eating a burger and he turns to me and says "so in the US, we have BEEF burgers, it is made from cow. Do you eat Kangaroo burgers in Australia?".. I just stared at him and was about to say something smart and one of the other boys laughed and said "dude, we are from the US, that doesn't mean we eat Eagle burgers!".. and he just had this lost look on his face.. haha.. he was possibly the biggest douchebag I have ever met.

Was there for 2 nights, but sick as a dog.. dunno whether it was food poisoning or a virus but I was a cripple. I had no energy whatsoever.. I tried to go for a walk on the first night and the humidity was like nothing I have ever experienced b4.. it was 10.30 pm and it was about 40 odd degrees with air as thick as smoke it was horrible. There was some summer of NBA thing on when I was there too so I was effin spewin I wasn't on my game. But I'd love to go back with a group of friends some day.
