Vegas for me. Save money, buy expensive suits, go to Vegas for a couple of weeks and blow all my money at the casinos.

I have much respect for americans.

I do not agree with all of thier policies, but they believe in freedom and make the best software.

Good bong shops too.

the egos aren't that bad Jess.. I've only encountered one arrogant f**kwit in a month and I can guarantee there'd be more than that in a month at home.. they are proud people.. so they should be.. I don't think they are arrogant..

I'd have to agree. While they certainly aren't the smartest bunch (seriously, Doonside would give them a run for their money) most of them seem more courteous and friendly than a lot of folk here in Oz.

From my experience, most Americans (well, all, but to be fair the sample space is limited to gaming.. might have an effect) seem to have one common trait. They can appear quite nice on the outside, or they can be rude on the outside, they could be neutral on the outside.. it doesn't really matter - it's still practically impossible to ignore their massive ego and underlying smugness about themselves and their country. A lot of them fairly ignorant too, which I suppose follows from the previous two traits..

I long for the day the Boomers beat Team USA in a gold medal basketball match...fk that'd be sweeter than the mighty Sharks winning a grand final...

yeah I loved Memphis !!! I actually really liked Arizona too.. the people were just so nice..
I am very proud of being Aussie, does that make me arrogant? I don't see why just because they are proud of who they are they have to be arrogant. Is Australia known as an arrogant country? Because there sure are a few fkwits that I have come across. Of course there are a few yanks that are tools and most of the time they are the ones that people meet when they decide to pass judgement. I have only met one douche that was American in my life, the rest have been very warm people and very curious about Australia. After Aussies and Kiwis they are my favourite people.

2 out of 2 for Coby.

Oh sure, here comes the "The people in the country are much friendlier" line. I'm not going to dispute that, as I was mainly comparing the city folk of either country, and thats where the majority of people live in either country, so the generalisations are valid imo.

a lot of americans are pretty simple people. 80% of them don't have passports, and this at times leads to an insular view of the world. american tourists are often voted the worst in the world. all that mixed in with an intense pride (that you can see everywhere, right down to the bill of rights) for America, and you have an interesting mix. You would have to say that certain features of the American lifestyle (largesse, loud) are generally rejected in most other parts of the world, so its easy to see how they fall into conflict with it

sure, some of them are fine but as a general comment they don't fit in too well with how the rest of the world lives

United States of Americans often refer to their country as America. America is not a f**king country ffs.

Australians, however, have the awesome right to call their country by the same name we call the continent.

Anyway - that's pretty damn arrogant right there. It'd be like Egyptians calling their country Africa ffs.

who says they need to fit in with the rest of the world? Is that what YOU think everybody should be doing? Is that YOUR opinion? Yeah they are loud, so are Aussies. They love their sport and are very passionate about it (probably ALOT more than Australians in general.) Most people that say that Americans are arrogant have either had a bad experience with one and aren't willing to let it go, or have never met an American and are just listening to stereotypes. Well the stereotype about Aussies is that we do nothing but sit around and drink all day and surf. Um? No. I'm not talking about politics or the past I'm talking about MY experiences and in my experience Americans have been very warm and welcoming. Also among the people I've met here are the best guys I've met in my life, and I really hope they make it to Oz one day so I can take care of them the way they've taken care of me. Even before I came over here all the Americans I met were lovely.

I've never heard that. I always hear either 'The States', 'the US', or 'United States'..
