A Contract is a Contract, is a Contract....or is it?

Good summary Guvner.

After all that's gone on, this is what I think.

...... Or did he keep this up his sleeve intentionally? ........

Humphries knew that if there was no formal release then Moltzen was going nowhere even though Moltzen was told he could look around.

By sitting on it, Humphries had the best of both worlds. If he decided they didn't want Moltzen, then he could release him.

If, as it now turns out, they changed their mind, they still have Moltzen tied up.

Very smart but very grubby.

Let him stay there. I, as a Dragons supporter, don't want him anywhere near my team.

let him stay there if he will be unhappy coming to the dragons.

keeping in mind, he has 1 yr left on his contract. if he gets hurt or if he has a bad season (which is possible if the team doesnt perform), then lets see if the tigers want to hold onto him after that.

they didnt show much urgency to keep him and only held on once they lost lui.

if moltzen wants to stay at that sort of a place for a 1 yr commitment, then let him.

given the state of the market for players...giving up a 3 yr contract for a 1 yr contract isnt the smartest of moves. i dont know the psychology behind him wanting out of the dragons deal, but given the vibe of the tigers i wouldnt feel confident in placing my fate in the hands of their decision makers.

tim is just a hand full of bad games away from being left out in the cold (again). not to mention if a younger, skilled player from the lower ranks comes through.

id love him to come to the dragons. but if he doesnt want to...then its no biggy.

So what the kid can play.... And dont think for the for one second our beloved dragons players are all clean skins just smart enough not to to get caught

Trouble with Carney is he doesn't fall off the wagon and go down alone, He takes everyone for the ride, supporters, coaches, players and club. It's a panic move reaking of desperation and sends a negative message about our club if we chase him . We are a rugbyleague super club not a rehab centre. The proof if you need it is Canberra and the Roosters could'nt show him the door quickly enough when he fell back into his lifelong habits. We went through this same debate with Willie Mason another goose .

Yes but the difference is if we sign Carney this time it will be his LAST chance. :sarcasm:

So if you lot thought he was all parcelled up then why hadn't Doust already registered the "contract" with the NRL?....answer..because he knew he couldn't ..how hard is that to get your head around...you guys announced the signing before ALL..ALL the contracts were exchanged..stamped and lodged..seems like the Tigers were right when they said Doust was out of order when he announced the "signing"..love to see how you run your chook raffles oh legendary holier than though drag-on's

Dave thats exactly what everyone said when he joined the roosters after his time in Atherton. Guys like Carney and Mason are proof you can fool all the people all the time because clubs are always desperate for success. It always ends in tears From his actions this year you'd have to think he does not really want to change his self destructive ways. By the way how's everything going Dave?

Just look at his 2010 season. if the saints are to be a "rugby league super club" we need to strengthen our attack we are great front runners and awesome at the grind but we struggle to manufacture points and a player like Carney would give us what our attack desperately needs(The X factor) Sorward and Hornby are good but predictable Moltzen would have gave us that but he's gone we have got to looking outside the square to strengthen our attack and a player like Carney might be the answer

I agree, but the trouble is where do you play him? He is not a halfback and neither is soward. Hornby can't play fullback anymore imo and I don't think price will change the halves that won the comp for us.
