What about a team of rocks that turned in diamonds in 2005. Seriously, how did this team win a title:lol:

The whole spine was in terrific form.

This.

Also: hodgo is a great fullback.

This.

They won 8 of their last 10 clashes, produced a magnificent performance against the Cowboys in the Qualifying Finals and were able to maintain that form through out the finals.

Plus, 2005 lacked establish sides, allowing a bunch of teams to over-achieve before they were able to position themselves for prolonged success.

It was an exciting year and I see a lot of parallels with this season.

For me Ty Williams was so disappointing but I think players that come back from injury get somewhat of a pass because there is the risk they won't recover.
He was blisteringly fast though, it was like writing your Ferrari off and getting a Hyundai back.

Would be interesting to see what is the most bust potential position.
I'd say halves, so many are the next half and get put into rep talks and never amount to anything.
Not that he even cracked first grade consistently but supposedly Tom Humble was going to be amazing.

Antonio kaufusi, rep prop at melbourne to a powder puff up north. Snapping your patella can probably do that

One of my mates is a Sharkies tragic. The talking up of Nick Youngquest, Shaun Wessel and Don Tweedle caused many hours of laughing... At his expense.

None of those had any real diamond quality about them, especially Tweedle, faaark me.

Cory Paterson takes the cake for me at the Knights. Could ha e been anything and just fizzled out in year 3.

I think a lot of players mentioned aren't what the OP was after. I think he meant guys that looked destined for succesful careers but ended up playing less then 50 nrl games. He used Dave Taylor as an example of the type of guy he didn't want on the list so that rules out guys like t-rex, widdop and co.

Does anyone remember david siege or milton thaiday?

I thought Daniel Sullivan was going to be a superstar playing lower grades for Parramatta. Think he did his knee then got a staph infection and never kicked on.

I was there when he did his knee, he played lower grades against Penrith in the first round and saw him get injured.

Sadly for him it kept him out of football for 2 years. :(

He had a comeback with the Warriors but was never the same.

But yeah I agree, could've been anything. He made his debut in 2001, played the Junior Kangaroos, only 19 and was only gonna get better.
