heya fellow Tigers fans...wtf is going on with this place, seriously?! Surely a 12 storey building is better than losing the Tigers for good :crazy:

I recently explored the old building and carpark, it's fully wrecked inside. Insane state of affairs in there....shame, cause it used to be a good place to get a steak and a few drinks!

So if the Tigers go down, does that mean that there'll be no more 'Wests Tigers' or will it go back to being Wests Magpies? :?

Cronulla's development is gonna be massive for that club. Hopefully Balmain can do the same. If not, I'd be happy with the Magpies taking control/naming rights and heading over to Perth

I feel like the people who don't want the development to go ahead are a very vocal minority - there is a personal grudge between Leichhardt Council mayor and the developer dude.

We can't lose the Balmain Tigers, they're one of our oldest league clubs! Seriously, that'd be a travesty. Am still upset about the Bears RIP

not to the average person who doesn't know that much about the inner workings of each club and just enjoys the nostalgia of 80s football days.... like I remember the Balmain Tigers leagues venue and the team were a big part of inner west identity. I have read/heard that if the building can't go ahead the Tigers will go out of business and can't make a new leagues club!

It was meant to reopen by now... is there any way the Wests Tigers name will go back to the BALMAIN TIGERS because I still refuse to say 'Wests' or go to the club in Ashfield.

Also someone has stolen the big Tiger out front of the building :shock:

Wests Ashfield should be worried about developing Rugby League in their local area... Not 4.000 kms away.

The oldest club has been dead for 87 years.
Second oldest club has been dead for 33 years

Age means nothing.

Balmain is debt addled

Balmain stupidly chose to sell their biggest asset before getting approval for their development.

If they die, their half of the merger will be up for sale. Doesnt matter who buys it, the club will remain as the Wests Tigers

A 12-storey building in that area would be disastrous.
You're talking about increasing the traffic of people and cars around what is already one of the busiest roads in Sydney (Victoria Rd). I spend quite a lot of time in Rozelle, and a building of that size would stand out like dog's balls. Very few buildings are more than 2 storeys, and the council and residents are very protective of the aesthetics in the area.

Fix up the joint, by all means. But don't turn it into a behemoth of a building just for the sake of it.
