Knights fans still sticking up for him.. no surprise. Johns surely would have been sent off as well if there was any time on the clock.

Holla if ya hear me said:
he IS being made a scapegoat for TWO blind freddies who have been allowed to hide behind.."our vision was blocked" bullsh*t.
Totally agree with you holla. What was the video referee doing. Scratching his a***.:iwstupid: Bill harrigan had enough time to view the footage and then let Simpkins know that the wrong decision had been made. Joey IS being made a scapegoat. Players would not be swearing at the officials if they had the balls to actually make a decision instead of after the game at their video sessions saying "Oops we made the wrong decision again" How long is it going to be before a BAD decision costs someone a grand final. I know that I would be filthy as a supporter if this happened to ANY team NOT just the knights.

I wish everyone would get off the we hate Joey bandwagon. It really is getting boring. Half the time the supporters that whinge about Johns being a "cry baby" have their own cry babies in their teams BUT they fail to see that. What is it about Joey that everyone hates so much. I'll tell you what it is. It is the fact that he is one of the best players in the world. Yes, he does have a tendency to let his emotions get the better of him, but then again how many NRL players haven't let the "heat of the battle" or their emotions get the better of them. I'll tell you - Not many. For god's sake would everyone just get over it. I just hope for the sake of ALL rugby league fans that it doesn't end up with Joey going to play in England, just because the NRL want to make a scapegoat of someone, to take all the pressure away from their poor refereeing standards.

It is allllllll talk.
He is not going anywhere as his son is here.
Danny just talking crap and sensationalising things. A Bit like Dean Ritchie with his crap about how Brett Kite might not play again this yr.

Or Craig Gower coming to the Storm.....

that worked out well in the end didn't it?

As for Johns.........

They might as well just get him to flop out his dick and take turns sucking him off..
People claim he's being scapegoated, but I seem to recall Hoppa getting in the sh*t for a similar incident with a touchie once and getting suspended for a lot longer.

I suspect that it is a ploy. No matter how much the NRL directors might despise Johns' immature behaviour, his leaving the NRL would be extremely damaging to the game. It would simply make a martyr out of him - children who look up to him as a player will not hang their heads in disappointment at his indiscretion, and consider their role model to be tarnished, but will turn in anger to the NRL instead. Especially because so many of the high profile players in our competition have already come out in support of Johns' 'passion'.

More, media articles will begin to appear questioning the NRL's integrity. The indictment of the judiciary implicit in Johns' claim that he is being made a scapegoat - that of bias - will be examined and dissected by every sports analyst around. The media will dig up anomalies in the severity of punishments for comparable incidents and have a field day using them to shoot the credibility of the judiciary to pieces. The question of equity will be raised and raised again, and people like Gould will use it as an opportunity to attack the NRL's rules in general.

This at a time when the NRL is facing a serious dual challenge from AFL and soccer, in addition to the spike of popularity that the Rugby world cup always gives to Union. I would wager it's just a ploy on Johns' part. He's telling the NRL that they can either let him play in the finals or he will ruin them. I wonder which option they will pick.

By the way, I repeat again, for the umpteenth time, I am not a particular fan of Johns. I believe his behaviour should be reined in, and in an ideal world his comments should be punished. I am also a pragmatist, however - enough to recognise that this is not an ideal world, and that the NRL stands to lose too much by getting Johns offside.
