Aubusson isn't ready for origin yet IMO, we have plenty of other back-rowers who are older and have more experience

Akuila Uate is better than any winger in New South Wales, he'll be in the team.

If he played like he did in game 1 of SOO and against NZ in the Test Match earlier this year he wouldn't be lol. He was dam average in both games.
Although Game 1 of SOO wasn't entirely his fault with bloody Monaghan inside of him

I'm sure it was Tahu on his inside, not Monaghan.
The mistake that the selectors made was that they shifted him to the right to accomidate that tosser Morris. I mean WT* he played so well on the left wing the year before why would you want to move him????
He's a left side player, not right.
IMO
2. Hayne
5. Uate

Jarryd Hayne on the left and Akuila Uate on the right is quite a formidable wing pairing.

ahh yeh true. Tahu was the centre inside of him in game.
And yes he played on the right instead of his usual left in both games (NZ test and Game 1)
2. Hayne
5. Uate agreed

Question Dogs and Eels. Weren't you saying in another thread that you wanted Hayne at fullback?

I think I said i wanted Stewart at fullback if he is able to regain the form that earned him a test jersey, but that most probably won't happen, and Duggan just seems as he is getting better and better. I also wouldnt mind Hayne at fullback, maybe free up the other wing for someone like Tony Williams, however no one here would agree with me on him being selected. Same with Jamal Idris, who i believe was unfairly dropped.

mmm ok. I would disagree with Tony Williams being picked in the side. Idris was unfairly dropped, but he shouldn't have been picked, so it balanced itself out

This whole thread is pointless - Uate won't make the NSW origin team at full strength anyway.

You're an idiot. Best NSW winger by a country mile. Best winger in the comp by a country mile. Stats, performances, tries, awards all prove it.

To have Gordon ahead of him is just stupidity.

Uate should not be playing for NSW. What a joke. He is Fijian not a NSWelshman.

NSW are stooping as low as the Queenslanders now, who have traditionally turned selection of non-Queenslanders into an artform.

People will say he has to take the NSW opportunity because it will boost the $$$ in his next contract. I say tighten the rules and don't even make these sorts of players eligible in the first place by taking away these stupid qualification loopholes. Tell them they have to play for Fiji, PNG, or whoever or one no-one at all. He is not Australian he is Fijian.

How is international RL supposed to be competitive and other countries meant to catch up when anyone from another country that is any good gets snapped up by Origin or Australia.

I don't think players like Uate should be barred from Origin, I see Origin more as a domain where blokes that love NSW and are talented enough to play for NSW get to play against QLD blokes that also love QLD and are talented enough to rep QLD, that's my own personal ideal for origin but whatever.
The bigger issue for me would be the switching of allegiances to Australia just to play in Origin. As you said, the ARL are simply locking up and isolating the talent to themselves and this is arguably one of the biggest reasons why League has always had such an ass of an international status.
Honestly, i'm bored sh*tless just watching England, NZ and Australia as the only proper teams, ARL have themselves to blame for it.

What fool would place any winger in the comp ahead of Uate at this point in time?
Rather what genius would place Gordon ahead of him?
If Uate is not selected for next year it's clear NSWRL have nothing going for them anymore.

I think everyone on this forum would like to see a more competitive international game. It's just a question of how we get there.

You can either allow people to play Origin WITHOUT having to declare allegiance to Australia. Uate is the perfect example - I'm sure he wants to play for NSW, but not Australia. Right now he doesn't have that choice.

Or you tighten up the rules completely and deny players the opportunity to earn more $$$ as a result of playing SoO. As long as the first senior club rule is applied, I prefer we allow players to play for their state, without affecting their international allegiance.

In fact, I think we should have a draft system in cases of elegibility for 2 or more countries, where the lowest ranked teams get first choice.

That would mean Civinoceva, Hayne and Tuqiri playing for Fiji, Costigan for PNG etc. Would definitely even out the international arena and give the minnows a much bigger chance.

it would also lead to a farce where we have 6 'national' teams of australian accents with origin continuing to be the so called "pinnacle"!

we need to get it right. give all nations rep matches and tests mid season, enforce strong rules which make it near impossible to switch nations once you have played a test and lets start to build national teams full of players who are committed to that country, so that in 10 years time we have at least 5 or 6 genuine competitive teams. give players with dual nationality a fair choice and make them stick to their decision. some will choose origin and australia (lote, hunt etc), some will choose their heritage (cayless, pritchard etc). we need to increase the attractiveness of the so called smaller nations, and also help them develop rugby league in their actual countries so they dont always rely on aus and nz raised players. it is far more important to get kids playing rugby league in samoa and tonga for eg than polynesian kids in sydneys west!
