Maybe if the Broncos took him and let Greg Inglis get him under his attention, Kelly may develop the potential that he obviously has.
It is a shame when kids who 'have it' do not get the opportunity to go on with it.
Albert is a boy from the bush, who needs guidance and example from someone who he is close to and respects.

Don't get the opportunity?? Spare me pete, please.
The good one's take their opportunities, and Albert has had plenty.

yea i gotta say from what i know he sounds like he's been well looked after. It becomes a choice after a while to shun what's been presented to him.

And speaking of boys from the bush, pete, you and i both know of countless other country kids his age that would grab an opportunity like Albert's had and never look back.

Agreed, how many kids would love half of his talent???? Sounds like he needs a good kick up the backside to me.

The bush is full of young aboriginal kids who have more talent than most. Ask most NRL and AFL aboriginal stars and they always say that 'back home' there was always 5 or 6 kids that had loads more talent than they had.
The problem is always trying to get talent to match desire and application.
Unfortunately the divide is increasingly large and there is no simple answer.

Big difference living in Macksville/Kempsey or wherever part of the North Coast he comes from, than living in Fairfield away from his family and friends..I know it sounds like crap, but it is a fact of life.

We have a bloke down here who played Australia Under 16 Rugby Union alongside Terry Campese, was signed by the Melbourne Storm for 2 years, played for North Devils Colts Team in the QRL with Antonio Kafusi, Billy Slater, Cam Smith..scored 200 points in his season, before becoming home sick and returning. The kid can play. He is 25 now, has kicked 25 goals from his last 25 shots. Has the best vision on the paadock, is a solidly built 5/8 and I still reckon he has the ability to play at NRL level..BUT he is a Country boy, happy doing what he is doing.

pete, the Eels looked after him well.
It's up to him thereafter to make the most of his opportunities. It seems that he is less then capable of making that decision.

Nothing...Just letting you know I added a little bit more.
Look I've got no wrap for Kelly. I have only seen him go around a couple of times.
Just think he might be more suited to a team that fits his culture - where he can fit in and be guided. That's why I suggest Broncos- close to his home territory, and with his cousin..

Stuff his cousin.....the turncoat.
Last time I checked an atlas, Kempsey wasn't in Qld, and is closer to Sydney than Brisbane.

WELL SAID

It's what i have been thinking of all along. Why is Inglis playing for QLD?
It's called State of Origin......hence origin NOT State of your choice.

Well Albert certainly hasn't fitted in at Parramatta or Cronulla...AND he is rated as a prospect...good luck to the boy.

I've got no problem with your scenario pete, if he's happier and more comfortable playing footy back home, even if that makes him a big fish in a small pond, then he should do what suits him. Rugby League shouldn't be the entire universe for any one person, happiness is more important.

BUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT - he can't say that noone looked after him, nutured him, or did everything to give him the opportunity to become the next Inglis/Jamal/Preston Campbell etc etc etc
In the end the difference between those players, and a guy like you mentioned, was that they got through the tough stages. Seems like an easy way out to me..

This is the problem for kids who excel at age limit football, they are naturally gifted and don't have to work that hard to doing what they do. When they get to open age football they figure out, everyone here has the talent, but it is the way they apply themselves.

Albert's application is the problem and the problem is not that his is missing his folks, from all reports I heard, he is loving the big city too much, to spite the attempts of People at the respective clubs working their buts off to help him get focused.

Maybe you could fit him in at the Big Country club, but I heard they got a full back long term already.

I remember him having a press conference when he was first picked for nsw. He was almost in tears and said it's great to be playing for queens um nsw.

Turn it up.... did he have a gun to his head?

Dead set I love the comebacks QLDers come back with..... I'd be happy to swap all the players mentioned.

But lets just look 3 players from your '5 in a row'

Sam Thaiday born June 12, 1985 in Sydney, New South Wales
Greg Inglis born 15 January 1987 in Kempsey, New South Wales
Israel Folau born 3 April 1989 in Minto, New South Wales

Makes the achievement pretty laughable IMO.
