So why aren't all the other players who did the same tackle missing this week aswell? Singling out one person for a tackle that happened several times over the weekend from players on different teams is just pathetic. If these tackles were penalised each time they happened, and players suspended for the tackles they would happen far less often. Singling out one player because his victim was the unfortunate guy to get hurt from this tackle doesn't solve anything.

The NRL only punishing the one player to me sends the message that you won't get punished severely unless your tackle severely injures someone.

BJ Leilua should just give McLean a stern talking to about putting opposition players in dangerous positions.

Also agree about BM about giving a loophole about dropping the ball when your put in a dangerous position.

If he does get suspended then the week where he is "stood down" should count as part of his suspension.

Its another move by the nrl to pander to mothers. Simple.

The week will be counted, so if he gets 10 weeks (probably reasonable given the outcome), he will have 9 weeks to serve.

You think these kids are hateful robots. Young McLean would be devastated.

Again, without prejudging anyone, Alex's head tuck was a significant cause to the final outcome.

Um, his head should not have been driving towards the ground to begin with

Don't let the facts get in the way of lockyno1's hating on Melbourne, mate.

If this outcome is the litmus test for these kinds of tackles in future the nrl are going to wanna be consistent.

Jordan Mclean is an absolute talent and has got plenty of big time footy ahead of him. Hes just a kid and even though it was an accident this will stay with him.

A situation like this can affect people in different ways, this young bloke might never be the same.

Or you can avoid causing injuries....especially when the injury was 100% avoidable! This 3rd man in rubbish should have been outlawed. Don't feel sorry one bit for the Melbourne player.

He won't get ten weeks and youll look like an even bigger twat than you already are.

Bad tackle. Deserves suspension. 2-4 weeks.

Enough overreacting. It was a bad tackle but we have all seen worse. It was an unfortunate set of circumstances that led to the injury. But there are many like that that don't end up in a broken neck and they get around 1-4 weeks usually.
This crap about how he should be out for 15 weeks or for how long McKinnon is out for is stupid. The proposed kneejerk rule changes are even stupider.

I hope you are in a rush to get somewhere and run somebody over, only to have nobody support you.

Exactly, if there was no injury would there still be this outcry and media focus?
