It's just so heartbreaking.

I don't know about anyone else but I think this is the worst thing the club has ever gone through. I feel so terrible for the players, and coaches and staff at the club, and of course most of all Alex and his family. I know I've never felt as empty about footy as I do now and I've never even met Alex. I really couldn't care less about the results anymore when we've had such a tragic reminder that at the end of the day it really is just a game and there are much more important things.

I don't give a sh*t if they win or lose tomorrow or even how they play. Just want to go there to show my support for Alex, his family and the players as that is pretty much the only thing I can do to help in any way.

The script is flipped on this one. Our team needs us as fans to show we give a shit about them as people and not as sportsmen. They need to know the result is irrelevant. They are under extreme pressure just to get out there. This is for them.

Pretty much sums it up for mine. This is easily the worst I've personally felt about sport and every time I think about it I have a profound sadness and tears for the kid. 22 yrs old with everything ahead of him and by all reports a wonderful human being. Its just so terrible.

I liked what Bedsy said the other night on the footy show. "We all thought Wayne was brought to the club to win a premiership, but maybe he was brought here to help us get through this."

Dave Riccio wrote another great article on Newie's absolute refusal to quit in tough times. There are going to be tears today. You can feel the mood in the town today. The boys are in for a huge lift. I hope Channel 9 capture this on tv.

I'm at work but will be home by 4 to watch it.

I was just thinking about this game before and got chills thinking about how I hope the whole town will come together and support Alex today.

Read from someone on Twitter that Ch9 are reporting that Alex is out of his coma, breathing on his own and saying some words.

Best news if that's true :)

Hope they can show him what happened at the game today, that'll mean a lot to him.

Best wishes to Alex and his family, Wayne Bennett is just the best man manager there ever was and even he would be lost in these tough times doing it tough.....but with Wayne in his life, he has the best man.

Please don't take offence Steve but it may be best to leave that type of info to be given in a more official/ appropriate way if it is to be true?
