All not well in Toulon - SBW for RLWC08??

It appears to be going pearshaped in Toulon if the papers are to be believed, with Umaga getting the punt and SBW sulking. Apentely there has been an approach back to the bulldogs from his camp, so League would be back on his mind.

If he decides to pull the pin in the next few weeks at Toulon, the Kiwis can use him in the RLWC as he is in then preliminary squad. What a medeia frenzy this would create - even internationally.

The guy's been barred from the NRL... can't see him being allowed to play in RLWC. Let the dirty prick suffer unemployment for a while - no league club in their right mind would touch him after his walk outs and sulks (not to mention injuries).

He has not been officially barred from NRL, but it is still possible. He does not need to be contracted to a club currently in NRL or ESL to be able to be selected. The only condition is that he is nominated in the preliminary squad - which the Kiwis did.

It is still very possible............................

Just a pity he has a fractured bone in his leg. I don't think he will be playing for anyone again this year. If he's homesick then he should come back to NZ and play Super 14's next year.

Most of the players in the RLWC will not have played in the NRL - even if he is barred from the NRL that means nothing. I could possibly see this developing.

I went to the Toulon-Bourgoin game last weekend to do just that, but there was no sign of Sonny Bill on the sidelines or even an emergence from the changerooms after the game.

Toulon played an extremely dull game of rugby with little sign of the talent that the president has paid so much for. I feel that if they lose a few more games to lowly ranked teams then the house of cards may come crashing down.

I wouldn't have thought there would be a clause in his contract only allowing him to play for the Bulldogs in the NRL. It might state that they get first refusal but they wouldn't be allowed to prevent him playing in the NRL (if the NRL themselves allowed him to) if they don't want him.
