A decision to get rid of him should be an easy one for a forward thinking, modern, 21st century club who wants to be part of society, set good examples for the kids that follow them and build a brand that supporters can be proud of...

So I guess we'll keep him.
Just that Walpole , our mob of knuckleheads running the show logic is the exact opposite of other teams that put their clubs first and foremost .

I really hope the juniors coming through learn from this and treat this as a perfect example of what not to do outside of footy. Make an example of this poor behaviour.

What have Saints got to lose by sacking him? He will end up in jail by the looks of things or if he appeals will draw out this saga longer than it should be. Haven't saints learnt from the JDB saga how punishing this can be for the club, players and fans? If they sack him, I am sure some other team will pick him up if not an English team may get him as he would probably get the Man Of Steel award in a season or 2 over in England.

I agree with almost everything on this thread excepting “He tried to kill with a hammer”. I’m not defending him, but he wasn’t charged with attempted murder.
He chased the bloke with a hammer, who fell off a roof trying to get away.
There is no need to exaggerate, it’s bloody serious enough.

I also feel sorry for him.

Sorry he has a piss-poor role model as a father.

Sorry that he was taught aggression as a solution (Outside of football)

Sorry his own father did not de-escalate the situation.

Sorry for his mother, six sisters and two brothers.

Sorry he was talked into a BS defence. (contrition/honesty = more lenient sentencing.)

I’m also sorry for us, the fans, and the club.

Amone’s lawyer has flagged a possible appeal so the odds are, we probably can’t sack him till he’s afforded all legal avenues to clear his name.
It’s like Groundhog Day

Yeah, “I’m looking at YOU JDB

There may be a concern of a wrongful dismissal claim if we jump before sentencing shows we will not be able to fulfil his contract.
I don’t believe that would get up, I expect they are in a position to sack him now. But maybe they are waiting through “an excess of caution”.

I get there's a cleanout happening cause we only just avoiding the wooden spoon in '23. FMD though, the hits just keep coming and I hope someone reminds the last one standing to switch the lights out and lock the door behind him. If Flanno can rescue this lot, I'll have found myself a new Savior to believe in 'cause it'll be the greatest miracle!!

The Dragons have confirmed that playmaker Talatau Amone has been stood down from all club activities until further notice.

Amone, who has played 54 games since making his first-grade debut for St George Illawarra in 2021, was found guilty in Wollongong Court on Wednesday, October 18 in relation to an assault last November

The club will make no further comment at this time as court proceedings continue.

Dragons statement. Piss poor from the club. Sack him you weak pricks. What are they waiting for? To see if he avoids jail time and then they'll play him despite the guilty verdict? Ridiculous if that happens. He simply can never play for us again, get rid of him now.
Has the period for appeal finished if not the club could be leaving itself exposed.
