"Pierce said the club's general manager, Steve Rogers, had been asked to make recommendations to the board tomorrow night about the arrangements needed until a head coach was appointed.

"This was a difficult decision, however, the decision has been made in what the board considers to be in the best interests of the Sharks," said Pierce."

...give me strength.

The good news: half the cancer has been removed.

The bad news: the other half is still festering away.

so any updates on the Phil Bailey situation
IMO i reckon he was just bluffing leaving in hope the board would keep Ando, hopefully im not wrong
and Jabs about Bails not playing for Aust. again, maybe true for soon, but he did get in a close to full strength NSW without help from Ando

From a Knights fan.....and on the outside looking in I think you guys are being pretty harsh on the Sharks board.
Yes Anderson is a good coach, he has steered teams to premierships and took an Australia B side to England and came away undefeated.
But.....here at home he has failed with the Sharks time and time again. Since 1999 when they were Minor Premiers then fell over the game b4 the Grand Final, they have gone the same way on to many occasions. They failed against Newcastle in 2001 and again against the Warriors in 2002. Then this year they fell in a complete hole and didnt even make the finals. Granted they are going through a rebuilding period after losing so many talented players (some of who left BECAUSE of the coach) but if a similar thing happened at Newcastle, I would feel exactly the same way.

The club needed a change....a fresh start.....some new ideas and coaching styles to liven things up. Give Raper a chance. I had massive doubts about Hagan when he took over, but he coached us to a premiership in his first year.
In any case, best of luck for season 2004, you are a great strong club and your best is yet to come.

Cheers

:D A very pleasing outcome!

I usually refrain from calling people names, but on this occasion i will make an exception.

Sullyfan you are a deadset moronic twit. A simpleton. A dromederry. A complete clown.

This outcome is by far the worst we could have hoped for. Now we are looking at controversy to the max, unhappy players, a very unhappy Anderson and therefore a lengthy and expensive court case. Nothing good can come from this.

You go ahead and bury your head in the sand though and accept anything as long as Anderson isn't coach.

This was our first step towards extinction, and Sullyfan is pleased. Idiot!

And the most sensible, level headed, reasonable post comes from a Newcastle fan. Amazing.

Now we Sharks fans need to band together and support the 2004 team, a club divided won't be there in October.

The AGM is in January. Anyone have Peter Gow's number?

Actually I reported first. About 3 months ago.
When in Cronulla, I choose to stay right near back me or sack me meetings.
I knew then he was gone.
Really, it's no big deal.
It will be interesting now watching all of the "preacher" or "superior supporters" with their lame comments.
The Sharks club is in no danger from Anderson.
They are in Danger from failure to grow. 1.2 Mill will be a handy loss for the books perhaps & decents sponsor would wipe their ahss with measley amount. It's nothing like the possible 10 million in damages Anderson looked like reaching.
& yes we will keep the sponsors now he is gone.

Any of you twats think this was about ego or personalities just crak me up.
This was about loss minimalisation. Nothing more, nothing less.

Once again I am astounded by your ignorance, Reefy. If you think this club can afford to fund a lengthy legal battle and then if we lose, pay damages and court costs to Anderson along with the 1.2 mill payout figure, you are dillusional and misinformed.

So the Prince of lies, who just 18 months ago was saying the club would be broke shortly, can now say that $1.2 million gone is just a "handy loss".

What a joke.

It's hardly baseless.

He can argue that he is owed the 3 years since he wasn't given the chance to get in the 8 this year.

So multiply his wage by 3 and hey presto!

Then if he wins you also should add court costs plus damages. SO $1.2.mill is a good starting point.

Stop sucking on Ando's pole for a few seconds. Anderson's tenure at Cronulla was a total and complete disaster. He set the club back several years with his arrogance and tendancy to "play favourites". The club can only improve now that he is gone.

And I wish I had a dollar for everytime someone has said to me "Gee, Anderson's really f*cked up your club".

Yep lets go back to the mediocrity of being happy to just make the finals but never to get past the finishing line.

I'd rather see the team play well. Not watching them play a terrible brand of football and coming 12th.

I'll just be happy if we can see the team play when all the dust has settled.
