Anderson SACKED!

I forgot that 2002 had the ghost of John Lang coaching the team. Maybe we should try & get Anderson to pay back his salary for 2002 seeing as he had nothing to do with it.

All Sharks fans want to see them play well (irrespective of the coach)
Most Sharks fans want to continue to see them just play (good or bad)
Some may be lucky enough to see both if they have video tapes (let's just hope it doesn't come to this)

Yep lets go back to the mediocrity of being happy to just make the finals but never to get past the finishing line.

Woo Hooo

I'd rather see the team play well. Not watching them play a terrible brand of football and coming 12th.

Why doesn't this statement surprise me...

It shouldn't. It's an obvious statement to make.

It's the perfect illustration of an also-ran culture.

As opposed to Ando's "winning culture"?

His trohpy cabinet looks one hell of a lot better than ours. Me thinks he would say, "Look at the score board, Losers."

:( someone pass me a beer.

I was in 2 minds as to whether Sharks should keep Ando or sack him, but ultimately I think the wrong decision has been made. At least he should have been kept until the end of 2004 when his contract expires. If things didn't improve, then get rid of him with no threat of legal action or huge contract payouts.

But on the bright side, hopefully our players can band together (minus Bailey who has no loyalty to a team, only to a coach) and make a go of it in 2004. All I hope for now is that the Sharks may at least be competitive in 2004.................

Two premiership trophy's
One game short of the Grand Final in 2002, falling against the minor premiers.

8 wins from 24 games.....oh dear my world's ended

So the Prince of lies, who just 18 months ago was saying the club would be broke shortly, can now say that $1.2 million gone is just a "handy loss".

What a joke.

HHmmm, prince of lies.
I still stand by what I "heard" from a high source. Cronulla was in trouble financially. & when I said what I said, Cronulla had lost 8 matches? What if they had never won a game in 02? Then put 03 on top of that, it would have been a thousand times worse than what it actually is.
1.2 million will never be paid out. Especially if he starts working again.
no, 1.2 mill, even if it is paid, is the least loss scenario.
well done board of directors, they covered their asses well & reduced a 5-10 million loss to less than 1.
& Mcsharkie, you know nothing. go & have a cry.

What a great day…

We brought in a kick-arse coach with a plan to win us a premiership in 5 years. Then we terminate his contract after 2 years because he kicks too much arse.

What makes this cry baby decision worse, is that it didn’t have to happen… We could have: (a) admitted we don’t really want to sacrifice anything to win and left Langy as coach in the first place; or (b) let Ando finish his third year where, if he failed to get us to the finals (something we all want), he would have been booted with no option of recourse.

But oh no…

We would prefer boot the coach after 2 years. Get at least 2 of our best players off-side. Bring in a reserve grade coach who got sacked in England. Create a mass of instability. And go to court for who-knows-how-long to lose who-knows-how-much! What a champion decision! Very pleasing!

But ultimately that’s the call, and it’s too late to argue…

Now all you Ando-knockers have got your way, it will be nice to see you on the defensive for a change. Next year, the sun will rise on the Ando-less world you have campaigned for and I truly hope you get everything you deserve.

go away for a while & settle down.
Come back when you are a real supporter of the club.
Not a supporter of two bit, washed up, always had it laid on a platter for him coach that was trying to destroy the Sharks.

It's hardly baseless.

He can argue that he is owed the 3 years since he wasn't given the chance to get in the 8 this year.

So multiply his wage by 3 and hey presto!

Then if he wins you also should add court costs plus damages. SO $1.2.mill is a good starting point.

Exactly, if he takes it to court we could be looking at all up costs (our legals, his legals, his payout, his damages payments) of around $3 million dollars - money we don't have and money that no sponsor will pony up for given that the debt alone would be absolute proof that the club is being run by incompetents.

Anderson has no reason to go easy on the club, so we could be headed for financial disaster with a bunch of disgruntled players, led by a coach who has no track record in 1st grade but does have a number of Andos less salutory traits and having all of our clubs dirty laundry aired in open court.

Whoever winds up coaching this fiasco has my support, possibly for our final year in the comp.

Yes, you're right. This is good news. SR is the best coach we can now hope for…

I doubt any future Ricky Stewarts will want to come to a club where they cannot sack a player or have a go at an official without being sacked themselves. The world’s best coaches will be beating down our doors to sign (snigger, snigger) 5 year contracts now…

Yep. In retrospect Stuey is probably the perfect man for the job.

Certainly a lot more than you know.

If nothing else it is funny at a time like this to see you, as the least credible person on the forum, questioning the credibility of others.

Anderson is gone. we can't afford to pay him his minimum payout and you think a sponsor would be happy to pay it for us. ROTFLMAO.

We are in deep shit, the only question is HOW deep it is.

In all obviousness, the only shyit around here is between your ears.
Do you know who the major sponsor is?
Do you know why they are the major sponsor?
Do you know where the most important person in this arrangement works from?
have you ever been to his office?
Would you know which part of the world his office is even in?

Then shut up.

Wow, now I know I am dealing with an extra-ordinary mind.
Go away and have a cry

Reefy, you are kidding yourself if you think we are not going to pay through the nose here. Ando will take the Sharks to court because he believes he is entitled to the rest of his contract plus any other potential earnings. Now I hope the Sharks win the case but I think it is unlikely.

Therefore, we will end up paying for another 3 years plus court costs, plus our own legal fees. That will be alot of money. I can't put an accurate figure on it, but it will be more than we can afford.

Do you honestly think that the board is saving money here, or could they have just come to some compromise, as Frenzy said, where Ando coaches for 2004 and withdraws from his option for 2 more years. That would save money.

Nages is onto something here, you people who are rejoicing the dismissal are going to have to stand up and be counted when the sh1t hits the fan. I doubt you will be so happy when all is done and the money has been spent.

As for Sullyfan, I have supported Opes' throughout this saga and I believe the board has made the wrong decision on many counts here. If he has to go, why not at the end of next year? This is not a good result even for anti-Ando people. To say so is stupid. Why don't you stop smoking Reefy's pole and have an original thought for yourself.
