The Daily Telegraph online can reveal
Sharks utility star Fraser Anderson has been released from the final year of his contract after a meeting with CEO Tony Zappia this afternoon.
Anderson and his manager Lance Thompson asked to continue at the club until July before heading to Japan to take up a deal worth nearly three times what he is earning at Cronulla.
Japan has emerged as a major threat to the NRL following the big money approaches to Wests Tigers star Benji Marshall in recent months.
Anderson was selected for train on squads for NZ and Tonga for the World Cup, and ended up playing for Tonga.
Originally with the Broncos, Anderson joined the Sharks two years ago as a winger/centre before switching to the forwards last season and being part of the Sharks team that finished third in the competition.
