Can we please stop claiming it was a Junior referee... It was a farkin A-Grade game...
And all reports were that David was the key issue, Andrew not so much.

But we will give no attention that he is a coach of another junior team of underprivileged kids.

The fact of the matter was Fifita broke no laws, supported a mate (even if the mate is a f**kwit), and it only became an issues month after he had stopped with the FKL on his strapping. For this awful crime he has now missed out on Kanagroo selection, was banned from winning the Clive Churchill medal, and NOW is fined $20,000. Meanwhile, Parramatta has two players facing DV charges without any action, and multiple teams have players running around who have been convicted of assault, drug possession, use, and trafficking.

But yes, Fifita is the real issue of the game.

Good luck NRL with your distraction goals.

Breaking no laws is what leads to NRL intervention and the largest punishments, just ask Mitchell Pearce.

Yes, and cause he "did nothing" Andrew was fined and suspended (yet David was not fined, only suspended - http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-08-06/andrew-fifita-receives-back-dated-six-week-ban/6678186). Didn't realise you got punished for doing nothing and accepting that fine and suspension also

Furthermore, it is actions like what went on that do see junior league referees leave. I watched players get assaulted in A-League games, Under 16s, hell I saw one parent threaten to bash a referee after an Under 8s game. Each one lead to other junior referees (i.e. one who were under 18 years of age) quit refereeing even though they had the potential to be very good referees.

He coaches a team of under privileged kids? So what. That does not give him licence to do what he did that day at all. Its not like he doing that cancels out anything else he does.

If you would like to point out where I said he "did nothing", I will happily wait. Of course I never actually said that at all. He accepted what he did was wrong, accepted the punishment.

Furthermore, I never said that he should have got off scot-free. Rather, I did clarify it was not a Junior referee but a fairly experienced local referee. I used to referee myself and can't disagree that peoples behaviour at junior games forces young referees out of the game - but this incident was not a junior referee, and I'm clarifying that fact.

Again, I never claimed coaching underprivileged kids gave him a free licence or cancels anything out. If you can point out where I said such a thing, I will retract immediately. My point was that it's not like Fifita is only doing things that hurt the game and individuals.

He is not an intelligent person - i'll be the first to say that. But he is being punished for breaking no laws, whilst the NRL gloss over the fact they have convicted violent criminals playing the game - but their issue are initials on tape. This is the absurd thing.

Todd Carney broke no laws when cronulla fired him. I guess therefore cronulla was wrong to move him on.

Point taken. I mis-understood what you originally posted :)

And the NRL decides to do this on the day Cooper Cronk was announced as Golden Boot winner. So at a time of the year when proper league news is thin on the ground we actually have a nice story about player success and now all the tv news will lead with this Fifita shit. I mean, Chad Robinson will be even higher up the run sheet but that's an unfortunate event.

This crap is self-inflicted and has been dragged out. Probably also staged to get the glorious chairman out of the headlines too.
