yeah i heard this on the news this morning
now its starting to shed some light on the disastrous way this club is being run
if we cant afford 30k per year to keep one of the best players of all time, and a legend of the club around to impart his wealth of knowledge to our up and comers there is something terribly wrong
typical of burraston is the 'i didnt know whats going on' excuse.. does this guy take any responsibility for the way his club operates? it seems all 'dont look at me' with this guy
i think we can safely say that should the club privatise we can look forward to being run like most other clubs and have the chicken feed to keep up with the likes of 3 other clubs in paying johns to coach our halves.
FMD, way to miss the point and turn the discussion into another one of your "anti Knight's admin" rants. I don't give a sh*t if he's Andrew Johns, the club still has the right to look at things objectively. From what's been going around in the papers and that, it appears that Joey doesn't spend that much time here as it is, and now that he's offered his services to even more clubs, we'd probably be seeing him even less. I think the club has every right to question the fact that he's asking for more money, to spend even
less time here.
And just on Mullen, what the hell do you expect him to say? Of course he's going to say that he finds Joey helpful. In all honestly though, I don't think that Joey can help Mullen all that much. They're completely different players. Joey was a real planning half. He was able to scheme and anticipate what would happen plays and plays in advanced. Mullen is the complete opposite though. His greatest strength imo is his ability to think on his feet, and play what's right in front of him. If he can sense that a defender has held back for even the slightest moment, or raced in, he'll be able to punish.
It just seems to me like everyone is trying to force Mullen to play Joey's game instead of his own, and I'm getting sick of it. Mullo is an extremely talented player, however we're never going to see it if everyone keeps trying to get him to change his natural game so it's more like Joey's. So maybe not having Joey around as much will be good for Mullen and his natural game?
