Working man's club?

Owned by a Hollywood movie actor?

Built on fight and toil? Then sold off to the only bidder?

So the clubs not a working mans club because they’re owned by a Hollywood actor? Not really getting the logic there. What does a clubs owner have anything to do with the demographic of the club’s location?

Besides this club would be gone or would’ve had to merge if it wasn’t for Crowe.

Demographic of the club's location? Maroubra? Coogee? Kingsford?

Working class? You're dreaming. Souffs 'working class' image is a myth. A tenuous link to what was, many decades ago. It's a handy line to rally the fans, but for anyone to seriously believe the hype is just silly.

Not a troll but how much say does Inglis really have in recruitment?
I’m sure if he really wanted Angus to stay he would have offered what needed to be done?
Do they not get along?
IMO Angus is worth every penny and was disappointed the Knights didn’t go for him even though we are well off the backrow.
Feel for you guys!!

https://www.nrl.com/news/2017/12/12/south-sydney-rabbitohs-star-greg-inglis-ready-for-nrl-return/

Even then, when all that should have mattered was looking after the man the in the mirror, Inglis was more concerned with those around him.

''I can't imagine the amount of pressure he would have been under at the time,'' the South Sydney Rabbitohs general manager said.

''But I walked into the room, and the first thing he said to me was 'what's happening with Dane Gagai'.''

Inglis wasn't wallowing in self pity. Nor had he become so disengaged he stopped thinking about those around him. Amid his own battles through a mental health illness, he still wanted to know.

''Has anyone rung him?'' Inglis asked as he begun quizzing his close friend over the club’s pursuit of Gagai.

''I will get on to him now and make sure everything's OK.''

Of course, Richardson wasn’t going to spend the limited time he had with Inglis on the only day of visitation that week worrying about business. So Inglis picked up the phone himself.

He called Gagai and, largely through their relationship and the conversation they shared that day, the Newcastle Knights star confirmed he would be heading to Souths for the next four years despite speculation the deal may fall through.

:joy: Cherry picking much?

Try Redfern,Erskineville, Mascot, Botany etc

We've always been the working class regions of Sydney, whether you realise it or not.
Cherry picking? Redfern, Erskineville, Mascot, Botany, all suburbs that have also changed massively from the myth you think is still a reality.

Hell, if you want to pedal that angle, the roosters could run the very same line and point to Paddington, Darlinghurst and Kings Cross to make a claim as a working class club. Likewise the Wests Tigers and Balmain, or the sharks and Cronulla. The working class reputations of all these places are an echo of a memory.

Whether you realise it or not.

Are you saying that we are not Souffs anymore???

LOL. So your argument is based on the fact that there are areas in South Sydney that are wealthy? Why do you think that is?

Of course it’s not as much of a working mans club as it used to be. Jesus Christ how could it be? It was built on the foundation of working class supporters though. That was the initial point R20 was trying to get across. Whether or not it’s still a working class area is debatable but it definitely used to be.

You’ve just come in here with your own agenda to try and shit on Souths. What a great moderator! Are you that pissed off that we didn’t have to merge?

I also love how you insult us with souffs and then talk about high class south sydney is now. :joy:

Shit on souffs? If pointing out reality is so upsetting for you then tough luck. Souffs fans can fantasise about their club being something it hasn't been for decades but the facts remain.

I would reckon, without a doubt, that the bulk of Sths supporters weren't born with a silver spoon in their mouth.
I would reckon that most, especially the older ones, like me,would have had to work hard to make a good life------just like our club has had to fight like mad to exist.
Sths has always been the working man's club & still very much is!!!!

Most other clubs can say exactly the same thing. You're not unique in that regard by any means.

Sths have always had that tag-------other clubs haven't------it's something of which we are especially proud.

Penrith, Newcastle and Wests say hello...
You're entitled to your opinion, but it's making you look extremely ignorant mate.

Redfern, Erskineville etc may have improved, but they're still legitimate working class areas.

Redfern and Erskineville? Working class?

Thinking that makes you look extremely ignorant...

If you think those areas are affluent, I'm genuinely embarrassed for you mate.

But you're well within your rights to be wrong
What are you basing that on? Been and had a look at the prices of real estate in Erskineville or Redfern in the last 20 years?

Seen the shops and restaurants in the area? Aware of the demographics of those suburbs???
Average household earnings are waaay above the national average.

Over 50% of residents have a uni degree or higher, compared to the national average of about 22%.

Think what you like, the stats paint a pretty clear picture.
Have a look for yourself:

:joy: Because national averages are really relevant when all the teams are located in major cities :joy:

When was the last time you visited these areas? My family's been living there for four generations.

Last time I visited? Last month. Your family has been there for four generations? Then you should be aware how much it has changed. You made false claims, I provided actual data disproving your assertion and you've resorted to emojis and a firm belief that your opinion is everybody's reality.

It isn't. Cling to the myth of working class claims. It's dead.

You proved nothing mate.

You quoted national averages when comparing teams that are all located in major cities.

All areas of the biggest city in the country should be above the national average.

That you need to resort to cherry picking like this just hurts your argument.
