Wow.

Honestly, I hope we don't throw 800k at Paulo just because Watmough hangs up the boots. But if it means we can increase a 500k offer to 600k, then that is worth a look.
I suppose if he retires immediately, we can be players in the unofficial mid season player transfer market. AND perhaps the Mole was right (or was it the lurker?) who said we were in the market for a prop?

Seen choc at the fan day, and he was limping fairly badly. If he does retire, he's had a great career and a decent 2015with us. Without choc I doubt we snare the recruits we did.

Well done choc

I'd love to be a fly on the wall to these back-room shenanigans. What comes first Watmerkin thinking about hanging up the boots or did he get a tap on the shoulder ? Will be interesting to see if he stays on as "forwards coach".

Conflicting reports around. Set to retire / unfinished business. Who knows. Whatever happens it looks like he won't be around next year. Good news for our cap.

Yeah just rumours floating around, although I don't think too many people would've been shocked if true.

Stay classy, dude. Laughing at a player's injury.....

That sums up Manly fan's for you.

Ease up mate I don't think that sums up manly fans. I think the skits Marty Johns did on the footy show some years ago more effectively sums them up

Few bites there

Watmough was great for Manly, and was a huge part our our dominant area however he severely disrespected the club on the way out.

Players like Ballin, G Stewart and Kite have all moved on with class and dignity even though G Stewart and Ballin in particular had cause for resentment.

Watmough made comments on how he hates the club and could barely bring himself to show up to training etc

The fans adored Watmough and defended him to the hilt through multiple off field indiscretions and against rival fans who despised him (Parra fans more than most) and he showed zero consideration for those fans

So no, I have no sympathy for the guy

I'm sure many here wouldn't have minded one bit if Jamie Lyon struggled at Manly?

Yes because waking out on your club in the first year of five year contract after said club just released they're next best player in your position to keep you...is the same as watmough putting in 300 games and playing through countless injuries...so much so that he is now likely impacted for the rest of his life

Maybe Disco should focus on the shocking treatment of his players by Manly management over the years, instead of Watmerkin spraying them with some home truths ?

Instead he admires a player like Balin who was shafted and lacked the courage to say anything.

Lacked the courage?

Had a little decorum!

And I agree 100% Ballin was shafted, he was used for a good news story when convenient and then discarded the moment he wasn't needed. Disgraceful treatment to a great man, clubman and player

In the case of Ballin and Tooves, absolutely, you could also argue that G Stewart at least deserved an offer

Still doesn't excuse Watmough's behaviour

Just popped in here to have a read of the Watmough news, but are you seriously saying any prop is worth $500, 600k or $800k per season in the modern game.

Especially one really new to 1st grade and at best (at the moment) an average 1st grader.
