I just dont see how watmough will improve our team when we have beau scott-tepai and KE fit. I think he will be holding us back tbh.
We could of used that money to re-sign terepo and Pauli and front load them so there round for 3 yrs and cheap after this year. That would of been smarter. No matter how look at it even if front loaded this year we could of did that with other guys.

As for FORAN- he is a good little player. Not a superstar. If hodgo and seizer are asking 500-650 than foran is worth 800k IMO. If we did pay 1.2 we are crazy.

Me i think he will come to parra and go good. But wont ever reach to heights of one of the best halves in the game. He wont completely dissapoint or be a failure-He just won become the superstar some think he is.

Yep. And you know what the trouble is with that? In order to threaten for a premiership title, you need at least one superstar in your team. And we won't have one. I can see us getting to the level of consistently vying for sixth spot or so under this model, but no higher. If brad Arthur thinks you can win a title in this day and age with a good, solid, well-balanced side with a fighting culture - he's wrong.

Once you've got that solid unit with the strong culture your stars are more likely to look like superstars. It also gets cheaper to sign or retain the kind of stars you need.

The dogs almost have twice. The dragons have. And i think Penrith will go close once they sort out injury problems.

Choc has been good for us. Was awesome against Souths and Manly. The past two weeks he's been ordinary through trying too hard. And anyway he got us Foran for less than Manly were offering. You can't put a price on that.

Parramatta offered Foran far more than Manly.

Foran has a cronic bulging disc in his back which leads to constant hamstring injuries.

He took the money on offer from parra as he knows that his football career will be limited

I told you months ago that Watmough's body is wrecked hence why Manly were happy to let him go.

Semi "Dally M Winger Of The Year and best winger in the game" Radradra?

Mate he's not the best winger in the game.

He wouldn't get a look in for the Australian side if he was eligible.

He's got plenty of upside, but has weaknesses including positioning in attack, and handling.

His work rate is good and his finishing and line breaking abilities are brilliant.

But a similar type of player in korabete is playing at a better level.

Other work rate wingers like mansour would also be above him.

He's not at the level that wingers like Brett Morris and Jason nightingale have set as the highest standard over the years.

There's little doubt he's our best outside back by a mile.

There's no doubt he's the only player in our backline who you could even toss up as being the best in his position without being laughed out of the room.

But he's not the best winger in the comp.

Depressing watching the Sharks and Penrith game and watching outside backs with some pace.

Yea it's strange that Arthur likes slow centres and wingers. If we lose Sandow next year we will have an even slower backline. Depressing.

Well Robinson and Morgan are two of our quicker outside backs and they've hardy been our best this year. Manly carved up for years with a slow backline.

I disagree completely.

His workrate is being missed week in and out, and he's scored tries that other wingers could only dream of.

He's only young, too, and he will improve.

What was everyone on here bagging Watmough expecting from him this season? Serious question.

It seems that everyone set their own expectations and are pissed that he hasn't met them. He is doing no more or no less than he did at Manly. He is an experienced campaigner with pretty good go forward, a good defender and is really an honest toiler. That is all I thought we were getting - and I am right.

Seems many on here thought he would be making line breaks weekly, and when he is not scoring tries, he will be setting them up. He is good for a mistake or two - but he always has been. I just don't understand what everyone's expectations are. The real problem it seems is trying to correlate his contribution with his salary. That is fair enough but not really his fault.

But we still don't really know or understand the contribution he is making off the field at training, and towards mentoring and helping younger players which I figure will pay dividends down the track. That is where the big salary suddenly becomes a reasonable investment.

agreed ... he was brought in for how he can help our players off the field as much as on (I know the whole purpose is what happens on the field, but that takes time) .... people generally seem to believe our forwards are mostly aiming up .... I don't think there is any way to value how much he is contributing off the field, none of us know

Exactly. His botox tips would be invaluable.

Adding to the Semi discussion, I wouldn't trade him for any other winger in the game. I'd love to have both him and Valentine Holmes in the same team.

My only real criticism are the dumb penalties he gives away - one of which was unnecessary and put Brisbane ahead by 6.

But honestly - he's not going that badly.
