I didn't realise you were just going through hypotheticals. That's was my bad.

Do we really think someone recorded the in person conversation between Ivan and O'Neill? Is it even likely?
No. Do you believe that is the only communication that took place?

Gus didn't handle the initial media conference (post sacking) very well I thought. He threw a lot of mud at Griffin & made it personal which was the catalyst for this circus.

For all the advice he wants to give Hook regarding the way he presents himself in the media, i think Gus did himself a major disservice last night. Making sly smug comments, having Girds & Freddy giggling along & having Hannant in Brisbane laying the boot as a 'special guest' was just a poor look for our club & him in particular. It's just seemed so childish. Almost like we were back at school again & the cool kids are picking on the less fortunate kid.

Gus should of just been the bigger man & ended this whole thing last night.

Gus always makes it personal - it is one of his greatest strengths. It enables him to garner great passion and a lot of support.

It is also one of his greatest flaws.

Someone said he is very much like Donald Trump - I think that is a fair assessment except he is much smarter and more articulate than Trump.

I can't help but agree with that summation.

We know the DT hate us. Every loss in next few years will be due us getting rid of hook. On surface it looks like it went well. 58% win and all..

The best thing Gus can do is get the comp win... It is the only way to truly shut them up

Ciraldo confirmed he tried to quit would be pretty damning evidence.
Why did he say he tried to quit? He didn't really. I would suggest because he was stuck in the middle of a no-talkies between the boss and the head coach. That would have to be pretty toxic. He said just yesterday his working relationship with Griffin was satisfactory.

"We worked together," Ciraldo said.

"Outside of that, there wasn't much of a relationship. I did my best to support him throughout the 18 months I was assistant coach. Outside of all that I wouldn't say we had a good relationship.

"I just felt like I didn't fit in. I felt like I didn't fit into the way things were. It wasn't how I imagined my role being."

Hook is doing another interview with Buzz today.

He is cashing in on this sacking even more.

He never wanted to do any interviews such as this when he was coaching. He hated the media.

News Limited are using Hook to stick the knife in as much as possible.

What odds that the deadshit is going to double down on what was said.

EDIT: Sorry... when I said deadshit I meant Hook.

The above seems consistent with Ciraldo being the middleman between Gould and Griffin, who didn't talk.

I've worked with many people in my life. The vast majority of them it was just work and that's it. No barbies or boozeups after work or wife-swap parties. Some people I've worked with hated my guts and the feeling was mutual. That is not to say you can't get along at work. What we are talking about here is a huge clash of egos.

Perhaps Hook felt he was safe with the finals approaching, having all but qualified, and expected to be cut loose when the season was over and didn't need to make an effort to be nice to the boss any more. And perhaps Gould has an ego that is completely out of control.
