I don't care what Soward said. I care that Griffin is trying to take credit for other people's hard work.

If our pathways were flying the way you are trying to make it out they were, why the f**k would the club appoint a coach (Without interview) that’s main strength is junior development / pathways. Gus even said this is why he was signed. It contradicts everything you’ve said.

Regardless, the way some bang on about that one comment Griffin made 24hrs after getting the boot unexpectedly when he clearly was emotional & no doubt pissed off, is ridiculous.

Anthony Griffin joined in 2016.

2013 and 2015 the Panthers won the Under 20s grand final. Our reserve grade side dominated before he arrived too. Gus had already put a lot of resources into the lower grades and we were already successful. Hook joined right when our academy had opened too. Exactly how is he responsible for all the stuff done before he arrived?

Hook was supposed to translate the success into first grade. But we spent 3 years doing mini rebuilds and not developing towards anything because his playing squad was unhappy and he didnt didnt want to work with the rest of the coaching staff. The final straw for our board was Broncos putting 50 on us and Hook not even bothering to watch the whole game. He decided the Panthers were on holidays in Brisbane and would f**k around at timezone rather than preparing for the game and we got annihilated. That was the end of our season.

If he would accept help to compensate for the areas he lacks in he could probably achieve a lot more. He has so far been blessed to work at 2 clubs that put enormous resources into their NRL team, had long production lines of talent coming through and some great minds to help him. But he wasnt interested in being helped and even the best coaches in the competition surround themselves with great people to help them out.

Right now our success is because we have a coaching unit that are all doing their jobs well and working toward a single purpose. The players have bought into this and have set records for the club which will likely never again be broken. While hook probably has records for most consecutive comeback wins etc. Ivan has set records for most games scoring first points, keeping teams to nil in opening 20 etc.

Read what Gus said when he signed him. Gus clearly felt we needed someone to bring on the kids.

No one said we didn't have the juniors just didn't give them a pathway to FG.

Very similar to how the Dragons sit now. That is sorting Pathways NOT creating them.

You should be gracious enough to wish Hook well like you would have done in the old days.

The shit sandwich you gave Johnny Lang when you signed ME will never be forgotten.

And so Langy goes on to build up the Souths side, ultimately allowing Madge to take the 2014 flag.

Gus is all about Gus.

Nothing like a poster wannabee.

I believe Phantom is all about phantom.

More hide than your average rhyno.

With more faces and projects than back door Benny. Balmain leagues anyone ?

I find it comedic relief that Silverdale imparts his amazing wisdom on other forums. Whilst his own club eats their own, unable to play finals for 9 years. Tells legends of their club they are unwanted via the media.

Madge attempts to walk on eggs without breaking their shells.

Jason fiddles (with himself) while Wests Tigers burn.

Enjoy.

Plus a nsw cup premiersip in 2014. Lower grades premierships 3 years in a row before he arrived but yeah they were a real mess ay @martielang Give it up, that was a bullshit claim from Hook. Matt Cameron was hired to sort out the junior development and pathways, the idea we hired hook to fix our pathways is straight up garbage.

I posted part of the statement Gus said when signing him. Gus said that is why he was signed. If there was no pathway issues why sign a guy that is good at that side of the game? When there were more skillful coaches?

The most important part is getting those kids into 1st grade or it is just a stack of juniors

That quote doesn’t mention pathways at all mate you are reaching, it just says he is good at development and that fits well with Penrith (which is a no brainer as we have the largest junior nursery in the world). There is no mention of pathways or him being hired to fix any of that. It actually mentions Hook being able to take advantage of the ‘tremendous foundations established by Ivan Cleary’ that’s the opposite of what you are trying to push mate.

Signing Griffin will forever haunt Gus. Such an awful move

Can we at least put to bed this myth Griffin is responsible for our juniors like fox try to say? Seriously if you listen to NRL 360 they are crediting him for every success we've had. At least Webber just asked people at the club and wrote an opinion piece based on facts.
That was poor trolling by Kent. Who was responsible for our junior development..Jim Jones? Tried looking at the staff list on the Panthers' site, but couldn't find him.

No worries Mrs Gould.

Whatever you think Love. I don't mind.

Yep I like the majority of work that Gould achieved here at the club, if that makes me his wife so be it.

I've written nothing that hasn't been said by many others.

Time will either agree of disagree with me.

I do though have issue with the re-writing of history that has gone on in the media, and even some of this forum.

If I had the energy (which I don't) I'd scroll through the back pages and re-look at things said 20 or so months ago.

It's like when someone dies, some feel the need to make out the said person was a saint. Well now I suppose Griffin really is.

I do wonder though will it choke him or become a milestone round his neck ? Time will give us the answer.

Actually I made my comment after watching nrl 360 and they basically made out like he was the saviour of Panthers going so far as to credit him with identifying talent like Kikau (who Gus signed) and developing the guys in the juniors which is simply false. He would've had some impact without a doubt but the media are giving credit for other people's work to him because they have a relatiinship, either professional or personal as mates, and it's cap.

It's the beatification of Griffin that really pisses me off.

The bloke got the players really fit (Tick)

Got them to finals each year he was here (tick)

the rest (in my opinion) is bulldust.

Kinda proves my point how much people are going on literally about ONE comment made 24 hours after his sacking - what 2 years ago? Geesus. Get a grip lad & ladettes.

& give me all the stats you like, at the end of the day Gus signed a coach purely because of his track record with junior development. That says it all.

If you watched Hook last night on 360 (where he gave the club & Gus credit despite the way Gus trashed him like a child) & compared everything he said & the way he said it against Gus of the last 3+ years, one bloke comes across genuine, the other comes across bitter.

Team Hook will never be defeated. 3 final series outta 3, the man is a history maker & a junior pathways legend.

Just throwing it out there but Griffin has a proven history in developing players from reserve grades into first grade players.

The list is long, very long.

To dismiss his involvement and influence would be naive but he certainly wasn’t the sole reason the pathways were improved. It was a massive joint effort by everyone at the club.

That being said, I’m happy to see him in first grade again.

I am not pushing anything. He was hired to develop juniors and did that. The rest is opinion.

Some people are taking him in an interview which was too soon after he was sacked as gospel. I am sure the next time he is asked he will get closer to the truth

You watched NRL 360... there was your problem. Unless you hear it from their mouth not a journo then likely it is false

Of course

But if you are after another gig then you will stretch the truth
