If Griffin gets the arse it will be a massive payout. According to Andrew Webster he is on $800k a year. $1.6 mil payout.

In terms of the ladder, since 2010. We've equalled the number of wins from last year with 4 games left.

This is true. That team scored more points and had better defence in 2010. 2014 made the PF and had 2 more wins. This years attack is better but defence is worse. If we match that years PF though. it will be a good year

Tell that to the club having the meeting. They clearly expect more either on or off the field.

I'm expecting this will blow over, especially if the payout is anything like what has been reported. They'll come out of the meeting and Gus will wonder what all the fuss is about. Then the speculation that he won't be there next year will continue.

One hope might be that there a clause for a minimal payout.

Probably, but then he won't actually be here next year.

Not necessarily, it’ll depend on what the contract says.

Could be a number of clauses in the contract that would mean the payout could be minimised.

Perhaps the extension only kicks in if the team reaches a certain goal this year. We don’t know.

Possible. Webster did say later he was unaware if their were performance clauses for the last 2 years that triggered a higher salary.

The Bulldogs tried something like this with Des. They lost.

No, that’s not what happened with the bulldogs.

The issue there was they agreed to a contract extension, but the contract was never signed. So Haslers argument was that given both parties had a agreed to an extension it effectively took Hasler off the market. Thus depriving him of the opportunity to look for alternative employment. (They did sign a letter of agreement that precedes a contract)

If Hasler had of signed a contract with specific clauses that weren’t met, that’s a totally different issue.
