I don’t care who was right or wrong in predicting this. I care about whether or not it was the right decision for the club.

You can’t deny it suggests poor management. Extending the guy last year then sacking him four weeks out from the finals in a year that has, on the whole, been relatively successful. Could you ever imagine a club like Melbourne, the Roosters or Broncos doing something like this?

Maybe his behavior or something has caused a changed since being extended.

Please be Fittler.

Ciraldo to see out season. Then Fittler for 2019.

Any chance at this?

I said the same thing yesterday and I think it is a very good chance.

1. He has matured since his last NRL role
2. The young blokes think he is a god
3. He has a very smart football brain and doesn't take crap
4. Gus loves him and will pour all of his efforts into making Freddie a success (as will Brady)
5. He would finally be coming home after 23 years

Wow. I thought just outside noise as the players did well to talk it down. I thought Hook got unfair treatment from the majority. With our injury toll last few years i think overall we did well. Not sure who is responsible for it, but calls of benching Merrin etc justified imo. Though I guess we do need a coach who can get our big guns firing...

At the 60 minute mark it was 30-24 and I knew we had them. But that's not my point here.
You have blamed the poor part on the coach and credited the good part to the players. A bit unfair, it must be said. You are not alone in this around here and whoever gets the job will receive the same treatment.

Is that any different than claiming that Gus should be removed for sacking a coach who had brought us success? Ignoring the fact the absolute basket case we were when Gus came here.

Emotions are high right now. I get it. But saying Gus should be out the door asap is insane. First (and foremost) we have no knowledge about how the rift came about and who caused it. Secondly if were going on performance, Gus absolutely stays. Our roster has only gotten stronger since he got here. Lower grades are firing. Griffin gets credit for steering the team to a strong position in spite of injuries/origin, but Gus gets none for setting the club up to have such a deep roster?

He's done a fantastic job so far. If the club goes through the floor over the next few years then we talk.

I’ve been saying since we extended Griffin it was bad management, he should’ve gone then imo. He is going now for the same reasons, just 12 months later.

Today’s meeting was obviously a formality, the situation has been allowed to fester to what they have decided is an unworkable situation. That’s where the poor management lies, they did the same thing with the Moylan situation.

Am I the only one that thinks that the rumors of Gould and ciraldo were the actual coaches and not hook seem to be correct now? I can see the situation being they allow hook to take over again as we are travelling well we then loose 5 from 7 or whatever it was and the come from behind against Canberra was the final straw.
This is all just conspiracy theories in my head but wouldn't be surprised.

It could also be a play to keep Nathan.

I was at the first home game this club played. I would have gone to Belmore the previous Sunday but it was too far for an 11 year old to travel on public transport, according to my Mum. I was also at the second home game, where we thrashed the 11 time premiers.

I think this whole episode has cheapened this club. I'd rather not win another game this year than just gun down a man who has done more than any other coach for this club and delivered success despite injuries and a squad that is the youngest in the NRL.

This meeting clearly has been handled appallingly. It should have waited until after the season was over. We were never winning it this year, maybe next. This just appears to be a clash between two men. Gould should do the honourable thing and hand in his resignation. We will never win a premiership with him either.

I wonder what Ivan Cleary is thinking right now.

I was also there [at that first home game]. I agree with you. However, this was predictable given Gould's history.

Who hired hook? Not even an interview? Who gave us such a young roster? Gus has plenty to do with this situation

Same thing happened at the Roosters. BY the way if it is true that Ciraldo and Gould are the "true" coaches then it is they who created these very piecemeal performances from a team brimful of talent.

We were really only significantly inferior to the Raiders in the six minutes before half time anyway.
I get what you are saying and I had the same belief too. However, my point is, those are two clubs we should have collected two strong wins against.

There is a big attitude problem on the field and I think it sits with the coach. He is the one responsible for making sure they are up for 80 minutes of tough football. With our talent, we should have added plenty more points to our FA in the past two weeks. Sadly, we just got home on pure talent alone.
