It has happened before and it will happen again. It doesn't usually result in sacking the coach from a team running equal 4th a month out from the finals.

He should have been kept on until the end of the year. It sounds like the players were in on this too, especially given Merrin's behaviour yesterday. Gould has spoken on this very matter in his podcasts. What happens now if the new coach has a problem with the players? Do you sack him too?

I really REALLY hate sacking coaches mid-season. It should have been left to the end of the year. I'm sure that was the intention but Griffin may well have told them to stick it and its hard to blame him.

Same thing happened at the Roosters. BY the way if it is true that Ciraldo and Gould are the "true" coaches then it is they who created these very piecemeal performances from a team brimful of talent.

I just see it that we started a tad poor then become dominant then went to crap again. Something happened at the start and the last few weeks and it sort of aligns with the conspiracies.

I'd prefer the other way around, Fittler this year and Ciraldo next. Fittler would have to give up his NSW role if he takes our job full time. He might be able to get the side up for an 8 week period though.

Also I am not supporting the sacking. I think it's a stupid move and should have been left until end of year.
But looking on social media (especially mg's insta) it looks to be a long time coming.

The young roster is fine. Perfect actually, given where the club sits in terms of its strengths and weakness geographically.

Why was Hook hired/re signed is a fair question. But a better question is "why was Hook removed?" Like Moylan, we just don't know.

I get what you are saying and I had the same belief too. However, my point is, those are two clubs we should have collected two strong wins against.

But we did. It was an arm wrestle both times, the opposition got the upper hand for a bit and then we crushed them. This happens a lot in the NRL although teams don't usually give up two and three try leads before coming back.

There is a big attitude problem on the field and I think it sits with the coach.

Seems this is it. Merrin's behaviour yesterday when replaced is a giveaway. But it is in stark contrast to what Gould says in his podcasts. Players play and coaches coach. It looks like this was just more of his codswallop. I'm looking forward to hearing Gus's explanation for this but on top of sacking Cleary he doesn't have my confidence at the moment. Too ego driven.

It is somewhat a harsh decision looking at results, since Griffin just booked a 3rd straight finals series at Penrith, which no other single coach has actually done for us before. I think this has more to do with politics and personalities.

I didn't believe we were winning this comp with Griffin, yet I find it just as hard to imagine how we win now with such a change so late in the season.

I have always been a Griffin doubter and I would say Griffin has taken us as far as he can but the key is find someone who can do better, not just somebody the playing group might like better.

Guys like Oldfield, MWZ etc that we let go. Perfect for bottom end of a squad. Top 25 or so guys in our squad I can't argue with. The bottom is where we should have guys in their mid 20's.

Moylan's last year. Hook this year seems we like to do things that should be done earlier or later right on finals time

Hook isnt good enough. Although it could very easily turn out worse for us.
