Well you were the one who said that the AFL was attracting talented players of different backgrounds from RL ranks. So I was wondering how many they were attracting from RL that weren't part of their entrenched demographic.

It seems, though, that they suffer from the same problem you were bemoaning as a problem in Melbourne.

I'd also like to take issue with this. Ram you must be living in a bubble if you think that the Vic AFL media don't lap up the controversy and give it to the AFL / players when they can. To suggest that the Herald Sun / Age is all positive down there and that AFL HQ have some sort of control over the back page is pure fantasy.

You might want to ask a Victorian resident like @Poupou Escobar if the papers are sweet and complimentary to their game.

Yes but they have a 100 positive stories to the 1 or 2 bad stories. That is the difference. I mean look at the way every AFL commentator waxes lyrical about the game. Not just that, the ratio of ALF to League positive comments by just anyone on tele, is massively in favour of AFL. This make a huge difference in perception.

If positive speak didn't work, then advertising wouldn't exist.

Your silly race bating argument is irrelevant to the main topic and that is the Storm/League have failed to develop any juniors from within the whole State of Victoria that aren't Islanders or Maoris.

And I don't care where else there ancestors came from. The point is the wider community other then Islanders or Maoris haven't embraced RL in significant enough numbers to make a dent in the senior rank of our game. Whereas the AFL have managed to to it. Not hard to see and understand what is being said here, but all of you just hate the fact, as do I, that AFL has now surpassed League in our country. Or as others like Gutful, don't give a crap and think that it is un-fixable, so just attack the messenger.

Where as I think that it is very fixable, but we just haven't had the right people in charge. As for how to fix it. You all watch the shows and read the papers, it isn't rocket surgery, it just take the right leader/s.

And as many on this forum know we haven't had the right leaders since Arko and Quayle. All the noise to the contrary is just that. Leaders succeed where dumbarses fail. Look at our own club ffs, what a difference leadership makes.

I'm not race baiting anyone. You brought race into it with the Storm, and then doubled down with the claim that the AFL in Sydney and Brisbane is poaching talent from traditional RL backgrounds different to the normal AFL background.

Given whitey and the Indigenous players are entrenched in the AFL already, I challenged this assertion and was proven correct at this stage as you are unable to offer up what demographics are being attracted away from RL by the AFL in Brisbane and Sydney.
