Anyone still want to sack Flanno?

The fact is if you want to win premierships you need to have the right people on board. In my opinion we need to make a change and that needs to be the coach. When new coaches are appointed they make changes and ideally would go through the current staff with a fine tooth comb and weed out the deadwood and hire the right people to take this club to a grand final.

I cannot see our current coach and his support staff doing that, i'm sorry but that's the way I see things.

My opinion only of course.
so our plan is to just sack people and hope Jason taylor or whoever else mid level numpty that would sign with us waves a magic wand and 'hires the right people'

new coaches, as we have seen with even premiership winners, is no guarantee of success at the sharks

sure bellamy and a lazy ten million in incidentals will make an improvement but that isn't realistic

panic sackings rarely work and most commonly lead to a poorer performance

I'm not calling for an instant sacking. I'm saying we need a succession plan if Flano doesn't come up with the goods.

You pay for what you get.

Glad you asked
2011 = 7 wins - 17 losses - 13th
2012 = 12 wins - 1 draw 11 losses - 7th
2013 = 14 wins - 11 losses - 5th
2014 - void - no flano - spoon
2015 = 14 wins - 10 losses - 6th

our win loss ratio improved and we made the top 8 3 from 4.

I guess you need to ask yourself this, do you want to come top of the class or are you happy with coming 5th and 6th every year?

In regards to 2014, it was because of Flano that we ended up with the spoon really.

Just comparing the weird protective love for Lang ... Who had as much failure as Flano but had a much better team IMO
The nucleus had played together for years as juniors.

I think 01 was an even bigger failure.
The same bunch of blokes against Newcastle in Sydney.
well if you look at him in the finals with Cronulla you are correct.

1995. Had leads against Manly and Newcastle lost both games. young side but some chokeage.

1996. Beat Wests. Beat Brisbane. Lost to Manly. have you guys ever re watched that game? we had no f**king gameplan in attack. at all. beaten by a better side but we basically had no idea. choke. seriously its all kick and chase. ridiculous.

1997. Beat Canberra, Lost to Brisbane. Beat Canberra, Lost to Brisbane
we made the grand final yes. but we didn't play well in it. we somehow got back in to an 8-6 game on an error but we were never in it, really.

1999. Beat Brisbane. Lost to St George
Ultimate Choke. should have been up 18 -20 nil at the half but we grounded it on pattens foot, triester dropped a tiny knock on in a play the ball that they went back to look at and ET either threw it over the sideline or kicked it with the line open early on. we had three trys come back no try and bombed a 4th. an 8 point lead against that dragons team with Choc and Tingah...and then we had nothing in the second half when we went behind.

CHOKE

2000. up by 20 vs Brisbane away. lost. choke

2001. beat Brisbane, beat dogs. lost to Knights
I would argue charc, the knights were the better side that day in general and we were lucky to be in the match as long as we were. scored trys on a knock on by them that peach picked up and o davis watching the ball too long that rogers snuck in. maybe a choke? preston didn't have his best game and dykes was a passenger in the match.
the swing was I believe....and memory isn't great about this that we either kicked a 40 20 or they kicked out on the full but chris beattie managed to get it changed to a penalty to Newcastle by doing something beattieish.

which was the point of the Anderson signing

the culture change

and under him, he gutted the place and we lost to the New Zealand warriors in a prelim in Sydney.

Ill be over the moon if Flanno and his style of play can bring us a premiership. I don't like our chances. Don't think we have the points in us to win games when our defence isn't keeping team out.

This guy had a full year to work out how to win us the comp and he comes back with the same old game plan, the same one we thought was built around Robson and his lack of skills seemingly continues with Townsend and Maloney. Just use our strengths ffs.

ultimately my issue with Flanagan. and I don't care how we play as long as we win

is that he shouldn't be the f**king coach. and that we gave him a three year extension is ridiculous

negligent
or liar

either way. shouldn't be there IMO

the question was have we improved since 2011.
The answer is yes.

The truth is there in plain verdana size 2.

I'm not making up stuff.

Agreed. Absolute joke he's still allowed anywhere near the joint.

I dont see a reason to be hitting the panic button, it is only round 3.
the halves pairing will take time to gel as well as the players around them will need actual game time to get used to them, once they hit their straps.
I also am not surprised that out between Chad and JM that Chad is the one that has hit the ground running. He was already familiar with the place, most of the players and Flanno's ways. Maloney will settle in soon enough. Its a long fuggin season, we'll be fine.

We don't want Maloney to settle into Flannoball though. We want to take advantage of Jimmies strengths and change our style of play to suit. Fitting Maloney into flannoball FMD why bother?

Cool, so apart from the supplements not doing their job in 2011, you're saying we have basically been the same in the win/loss column, finishing bottom of the 8.

Good way of showing that we haven't changed in 4 and a half years (yes the gap year counts as he was still able to watch, study and develop new game plans for 2015 and beyond). As a positive, at least we are consistent and I'll admit getting in the finals is better than missing them.

Now if you like, instead of pointing out results, you can try answering my actual question?

Honest question to any and all...

Has anyone noticed any change in the way we play from 2011 through till now?

I sure haven't.

We may get crisper service out of dummy half, have a faster winger or a better kicking game but we haven't changed the way we play for 5 years.

It's ironic that part of the reason we can't get a new coach is because we can't afford to pay him out on his current contract because we are looking down the down the barrel of being sued by ex players because of ASADA. And ASADA happened because of our current coach, whom we resigned after ASADA.

Not sure any other club would have gone about it this way.

I will say this right now
just expect teams to score against us this year
chad and Maloney are now the halves
Robbo for all his negatives in attack was a bloody excellent defender.
He saved us many times.
Also - Barba is not going to risk busting himself trying to stop some huge Polynesian at point blank.
Which is smart IMO.

It hard to sign top notch halves pairings.
It has been done
by Flano.

If by the end of the year we are no good at scoring points ( and injuries don't destroy the backline )I will accept that he is not the man.

1. Sack everyone
2. ??????
3. Win premiership

Seems like there is a step missing
A little bit of missing detail the 'sack everyone' camp are skinny on

How long do the ' sack everyone' camp give the next coaching team b4 repeat and rinse?

2= go and pick the guaranteed premiership winning coach and his complete support staff that grow on the mangrove trees in Woolooware bay .

Or be contempt with making the 8 for the next 10 years and thinking that's a pass so that's good enough.
