Anyone still want to sack Flanno?

But his record is that of a good coach. I confess he sounds like a bit of a dope, but I struggle to see us going better last year with anyone else and he attracted (somehow) an upgrade in personnel this year. It seems to me only Dessie, Bellamy and Bennett are clearly better.

Anyway, we'll see if he goes any good this year. Barring injury we should be top 4.

His record is that of a middle range coach, not a good one. Add Robinson, Maguire to that list of clearly better coaches.

I guess time will tell though, he has a team that should be a well oiled attacking machine, so far there is no evidence of that.

Don't buy green, Robinson or Maguire being clearly better. They had clearly better squads, that's for sure. Souffs were disappointing last year with their squad. The roosters are clearly injured, but remains to be seen how they go when their roster is brought back to the pack.

So rule out premiership winning coaches then in general.

Bennett clearly has had better teams. So has belamny and Hasler.

Bennett Bellamy and Des are all premiership coaches and I said they are clearly better coaches with superior proven records, what are you talking about?

I have posted this before, but I honestly think Paul Green would be a great fit for us. He played for us, which has to be a factor.

If we don't win, I actually hope the Cowboys win this year, which could possibly have him looking for a fresh challenge - what greater challenge is there than getting us a premiership?

We DO have the squad to win, we just need to get them playing like they can win.

We also need a coach who can be tough on players that are getting out of hand. If Ennis and Maloney choose not to gel - we could have an awful season...

You ruled out Maguire, Robinson and green because they had better teams. But so did Bennett, Hasler and belamny but you didn't rule them out. That was my point. Not until your last post did you state you were talking about coaches with superior proven records.

Am I a bad footy fan for not giving a f**k about qld footy comps?

It must be nice to have Thurston in the team you coach

Ha
Flano v super coaches in 2015
2-1 over green
2-0 over Maguire
2-0 over Robinson

6 wins
1 loss
Fair point - but Green won the one that counts - same as the other two.....us on the other hand

It would definitely make coaching easier. Imagine having slater, Cronk and smith in the one team. Or slater, Cronk, smith, Thurston and Inglis in one team. And people think meninga is a good coach.

They had better teams cos their retention and recruitment was better. Oh, and they coached their teams better. I thought that was the whole issue.

Green would be insane to leave the Cowboys right now. We probably chase Matt Elliot if Flanno ever left.

The Walkers did a brilliant job at Ipswich with out of the box strategies. They lost heaps of players due to success, so their win record won't look flash. But they were a breath of fresh air, albeit at a tier lower.

I thought Bird at FB might be the start of fresh ideas. We mirror teams 12 months after they start something. Our grinding/wrestling based on Storm and Manly. Trouble is they move on. I am happy to assign us from 4th-9th for the Flanno era. I have seen nothing under Flanno ever to suggest we can rise to the level to win a GF. Last year's GF was an epic. We have to be at that level. Remember Broncs were good and lost. Neither team looks weaker. Cowboys may lack a bit of motivation.

I see Broncs improving as year progresses. Can we go with them?

Yes he did .
Got there after his SOO halves pulled one out of the fire.

Doesn't mean Flano deserves to be sacked for his actual coaching efforts of late.

This is a fairly pointless thread but what the hell.

Flanno attributes
Appears to be a good man manager
Has improved the squad through recruitment
Instills strong competitive drive to hang in there against more talented opposition

Flanno Negatives
Negligence in overseeing supplements issue
Lack of innovation in developing attacking capability - we have been at the bottom end of the points scored almost every year for over a decade and are last on cumulative points scored for the last decade. Not all his fault but he hadn't changed the attacking capability of the squad - execution in attack is still poor.

I personally felt he should have been sacked for asada. He wasn't and his results have been solid without being outstanding.

Bottom line is that he is a mediocre coach at what has been at best a mediocre club with mediocre squads. This squad is the best he has and he will be judged on that basis. If we don't do better than last year then he should go.

However, it is on the board and Lyall to have a plan to get someone better and give them the resources to improve the football team.

Agreed - he needs to be sacked because of everything else that has come and gone over his tenure. Will he be sacked? NO WAY. Just have to live with it and hope for the best I guess.
Personally, he seems like a genuine bloke. The team like him but his lack of imagination, 5 hits then kick, grind grind grind is boring.....
That's what it boils down to.
I hope he can turn it around

But he wasn't sacked
He paid the price
He didn't sign himself
He was signed because the fans held up signs wanting him back
Keoghs mob made an election promise and stuck to it

Blame the fans for it

You can all cry about assada for another 40 years
It is finished with
Flano is coach again
The board signed lyall
We are sponsored up like never before
The development is happening

Get over it
Enjoy the ride ...
