Anyone still want to sack Flanno?

Flano should have recruited better. Holmes didn’t work at fullback last year and should have been shelved back to the wing but he was still sticking by him to succeed at fullback this year.

He then gives him a bazillion fullback dollars and he has failed and takes 4 runs A GAME and on the wing.

Then he buys Moylan and Dugan. Moylan recently moved from fullback to 5/8 and Dugan plays fullback and centre. 2 players who aren’t really sure what position they want to play and 2 players even our coach doesn’t know where to play them.

Flano also wanted Pearce when we already had Moylan. So had we got Pearce, did Moylan go to fullback? And then Holmes already signed on fullback money was to be shifted back to the wing? Not smart.

Flano didn’t know what he was doing and had no plan. He recruited players thinking he will just figure it out later.

So
We lose barba unexpectedly
Val goes to fullback
He was always penciled in but not yet.
Coach is aware he is an absolute gun try scorer
Signs him before some other club do.

Then signs the best fullback/centre on the market to cover bird and val at fullback

Then a terribly out of form and aging 5/8 wants a massive upgrade.

So he rolls the dice in a young state (Aus ? )rep ball playing 5/8 fullback.

I reckon he will prove people wrong again.
We have a good team.
Especially the backline.

Holmes was signed on fullback money to be the fullback, fulltime. He should have been trialled at fullback before being given the upgrade contract. He is now the highest paid winger in the game due to his failure at fullback.

I think Dugan was the smartest buy if he was signed to play centre but because of Holmes failure at the back we have had to resort to Dugan back there.

I don’t disagree with showing Maloney the door. Had he actually put in last year he would have been paid the money he wanted. But instead he through a tanty and it showed on the field.

The fact that we wanted Pearce also tells me Flanos recruitment planning was all over the shop.

I have faith Moylan given time will come good at 5/8 but we need to get rid of Holmes because of the ridiculous amount of money he is on. We will need that extra cash when we need to replace Gallen and Lewis.

Frenzy.

I don't know if I want to sack Flano, but about 2/3 of the playing group do. He learned his trade from Ricky Stuart and we all know how that personality type coaching goes in the longevity stakes.

Right now he's "got the full support of the board".

As i said before i dont want to see this club end up like Souths after winning the title slide out of 8 for 2 years before coach moved on

He rolled dice on Val and it hasn’t worked.

It’s a high stakes game... and a friggen hard at that where we are up against it.

Flanno on 360 Monday nite:

When asked about the fullback quandary with Val, Doogs and Moylan Flanno said to the public they present a united front that we are supporting Val and he is still learning his trade at fullback. He said they present that they are supporting Moylan and supporting Doogs - all in trying to have them play where they wish.

He then said ..HOWEVER..behind closed doors different conversations take place where players are told they will play in this position if they wish to be in the team.

Very transparent comment about Val.

Holmes was fullback in Reggie’s and shared it with barba in 2016
Do you recall having m being shit then?

The plan was for him to be wing last year and this while barba was fullback
Then eventually take over.

Context. He wasn’t the subject matter. What do you wanna know? I’m happy to help you understand things.

How good was Dugans pass for the try assist huh? HUH? Who would of thought
Contex: Since when do you stick to the subject matter?

Dugan's try assist was good. Almost as good as Ramien's who's pass was a fraction of the price.

We made the finals with Val at fullback and if it wasn't for a dumb charge by Gal/dropped ball in attempt to milk a penalty, Maloney kicks the field goal and who knows where we end up.

Val isn't the problem, He's the under 18's QLD fullback and when Slater was off injured Mal used him as fullback for the Kangaroos. We have issues all across the park, this is much bigger than one winger/fullback.

He has 100% been part of the problems. Let’s not use U18’s as a comparison, it’s not uncommon to have 200 points a game scored in their matches.
That’s true
But to call him untested at fullback is complete bullshit.
He was a fullback.
A very f**king good one.
Not sure why he hasn’t brought that into 1st grade.
Maybe he is still too young .

I reckon every other coach would’ve done the exact same thing in the same situation as Flano.

I think if Holmes wasn’t making mistakes at fullback perhaps he would have persister with him a bit longer maybe.

Holmes may well turn into a good fullback, who knows, he is average now.
Ponga is way ahead of him as a modern day fullback and he's what, 19?
Newy have got a bargain for a few years with that kid.
They got a great deal there.

Hopefully Ponga doesn’t do a Maloney and start throwing.
