Haha...that is funny.
Actually I do have a mate who works for the sharks.
Rarely see him, but everything he has told in the past me has been spot on.
I used to put a few things on here but not any more.
But certainly don't need a source to know the obvious - Flanno didn't pick Bird because he was injured.
It ain't f**kin rocket science.
Flanno is incumbent man.
Ayshford, Prior, beale, Brown. He buys first graders nobody else wants and lets developing stars like peachey, Townsend, Val and Bird rot in reggies.
Flanno has never won anything.
Gorman is successful. In business and in sport.
Lyall knows not much about footy I would say but he knows winners and he knows losers.
Ive heard him speak 3 times and every time he goes on about the nines in Auckland.
In his view he sees a team of young and old guys go to NZ and in the final they go up against the premiers and almost take the title.
Before that he sees us go up against the favourites - Warriors - and beat them in front of their own crowd. He also watches us beat the high flying Roosters.
So he is excited - what a year this is going to be - so much guts. So much talent. So much promise.
Then - come round 1 -he watches the coach send a team out minus the two best young stars from Auckland.
He must think...'That's odd".
We get beat. he watches it again in round 2 and the same in round 3 and then in round 4.
However, in round 4 he watches these two guys - especially Bird, who was given 10 - 15 minutes in the whole game, make an impact.
He also sees guys - who weren't in NZ overplaying their hand, like the captain. Or guys like Fifita running sideways, losing the ball, laughing about it and giving away penalties.
Okay he thinks - time to step in.
Before Round 5 he lets the world know we have a losing culture. That means we are conditioned.
Conditioned to think a CERTAIN WAY.
A way that does not and will not allow success.
He also lets us all know he spoke to the coach after round 4 for an hour.
The result...Bird starts and Val to fullback. Gallen plays straight up the middle, gets his hands off the ball playing duties and fifita is out of the 13.
Flanno is that far out of his depth it is frightening. He has the message from Lyall obviously - do it the right way - NOT your way.
If you didn't get it from page 1, watch the first minute of this:
