ANZ Stadium - Never again

Settle petal.
ANZ might have crap views from certain seats and lack atmosphere when there's small crowds there, but there's nothing wrong every other aspect of it, including access and parking.

Suity

That's the thing, the facility failed with access and parking with a crowd of under 50% of it's capacity. Yeah there was an Easter show but even with that the facility should be able to accomodate everyone. I was never turned from parking stations during the Sydney Olympics but now it can't cope with a local football game and an Easter Show.

Give me a break!!

I will say that for the easter show, at least half of the large "Overflow" parking station P5 is full with all the vans and trucks that bring the "Show" to the city. People pretty much live out of P5 for those 10 days.

Maybe it's just that Sydney traffic has gone that bad and every bastard has a car but it seemed to cope with the second biggest sporting event on the planet for over a month in 2000.

OK, tell me then what you EXPECT from Olympic Park, when you turn up unannounced on an Easter weekend.

I've already said what I've done for 16 years. Either train it, or park at Concord West, have a few beers at the Concord West Hotel, and take a leisurely stroll across to the stadium to enjoy the match.
Either that, or train it to Olympic Park, and enjoy beers with friends at the Brewery.
It ain't hard mate to organise yourself.
I can't say that I've ever had a bad experience going to or from, or during, attending events at Olympic Park.
In fact, I find it an exciting place to watch games at as there is normally a far bigger attendance there than anything at Parra.

Or the fact that during the olympics everything was put on for the olympics. Or the fact that because it was raining most people said "Bugger the train we will drive" Then add the fact that since the Olympics, P6 and P7 have been added . . .

Hey all I am saying is that for big events like this game I plan ahead and don't leave anything to chance just like the Boy Scout motto says "Be Prepared"

Personally I expect to be met at the entrance to the precint on the Holker St, Silverwater side.
I want an experienced local driver to jump in the back of my ute and to take over the driving when I am 50 metres from my seat at the stadium. I then expect him to go and wash my car while I enjoy the game, fill up the tank and come back and get me at the end of the game. If I decide to drink during the game, I expect him to get me home in my car and make his own way back to Olympic Park cause I don't care anymore.

Failing that, I will take the free public transport (when offered) or for less crowded events I guess I can always arrange my own parking in P1 or P2 and walk to my seat from there.

of course the SOPA dudes could just build a big enough carpark to cater for one car per seat - what's 80,000 car spots really?

I expect to drive and park like I have for the past 16 years and not have to be turned away. I'll pay. I couldn't give a f**k. As I stated it simply isn't good enough. I would understand if it was a full house combined with the Easter show. But it wasn't. The crowd was just over 30 odd thousand.

I have also been going there like you. However the organisers and the ground turned me off and I won't be coming again unless it's a WC game in soccer or Parra make the GF.

Is that my right to have an opinion on that shit ground? I'm actually in the majority. Most people can't stand it. Every league poll has that ground coming near last. I now f**king hate that ground, Are you ok with that? Or is there more shit you can come up with?

It's Ok MITS. I thought I was prepared. I left home at 11.30am and circled that f**king ground for the next 2 hours. Then rage set in. Then the view was shit, then we lost, rage continued.

Oh my gods Suity how can you call yourself a true Parra fan . . . blah blah blah.

If we want to grow, with the way this government is going in this state, we are not getting anything more than a 25,000 seater out of Pirtek Stadium any time soon.

We sit at an average of over 75% full at Pirtek over the last season and 2 games. Now I highly doubt we are going to get better than that because the seats for sale at that rate are the seats that are complained about, from the 10 metre line to the dead ball or behind the posts.

If we get those extra seats those too will be behind the posts. So if we want to grow our numbers, ANZ stadium or some other larger stadium has to be in our plans, like it or not.

16,000 extra people got to see a live game of rugby league on Monday because the game was at ANZ, those number help both clubs and the league to show their popularity against other sports.

People won't go again, sure I can understand and appreciate that, it is their call, but again 16,000 more people than can be fit into Pirtek. 6,000 more than they one day record at Pirtek for the 7's when the stadium had both hills, we might find a few punters who can cover some of the rusted on fans not going.

It's still a shit ground to watch League on. To suggest anything else is a nonsense.

Don't forget, last season, over 30 000 extra fans got to watch the match, more than what would have at Pirtek. But Avenger couldn't get a parking spot this year, so let's abandon the whole situation. Thank f**k he's not running our club.
Seriously, it ain't that hard.

Just to calm things a little - I understand that not everyone likes Homebush. I understand that yes, we probably should be playing all our games at Pirtek to press for more sell out matches and put more pressure on the state govt to upgrade the stadium - just like the Wanderers are. They have refused to moved high profile matches to Homebush purely for that reason.

But it just so goes that the Eels are locked into a contract to play games at Homebush. It's not that hard to get there. Avenger, if you want to blame at anyone for your misfortunes on Monday, try laying the blame at the club, not the stadium.

If I was running the club we would not play one single home game away from Pirtek, under any circumstances. I would also put it as my main priority with a promise to resign if I failed to eventually increase the capacity of Pirtek to at least 35,000. I'd give myself 3 years to have it at least approved.

It's not like I'm promising two premierships by 2020.

And you don't think that's what the current board and the Wanderers are trying to do now?
Good one Einstein.
Just learn how to get to Homebush easily champ. It's really not that hard.

But champ, I wouldn't be prostituting myself at ANZ whilst waiting for the outcome. I would be concentrating on winning games which we seem to be doing well at Pirtek. I would not try and diminish my chances by playing at ANZ. My priority would be to win thereby increasing my chances of playing semi final football. This usually happens the more we play at home, our real home at Pirtek, not ANZ, champ.

Anything else Mr Blowarse?

I got to ANZ pretty easily. Just caught the train.

It's not the best place to watch League though. Especially on a rainy day.
