ANZ Stadium - Scheduling clash Round 25

How would there possibly be 6 matches a week there?

Not just six.

But "upwards of six"

Never going to happen.

lets say Parra, Dogs , Souths & tigers are playing most of their games there.

At most you would see 4 games on a weekend there , with the swans 3 games thrown in as well.

4 games would only happen once or twice a year. If at all.

The likely max would be 3 games , with two being the more regular occurance.

Whats the Sunday day game? Just switch those.

EDIT: Looked at the draw. Switch this to saturday night, and move Manly v Storm to friday night. What the hell was channel 9 thinking taking Bulldogs v Panthers over Manly v Storm?

When the dogs and souths both have home games on the same weekend there are 4 matches played there now - 2 x NRL and 2 x U20s. If a 3rd team took up residence that could lead to 6 games there in a weekend.

If we move ALL Sydney clubs to ANZ and Allianz like Greenberg wants, we would see Souths, Dogs, Tigers, Parra, and Penrith all playing out of that ground, meaning a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 10 league games played at ANZ on any given weekend.

The surface would be utterly destroyed

You DO know that we have this competition called the Holden Cup that plays directly before the NRL, right?

Fair point.

But the 20's games could easily be moved.

Also I think you'll find a third team is taking up residence , Tigers are moving back there ( for six games)

Blame channel 9. Someone f**ked up and didn't check stadium scheduling before they locked in their decisions. Will be expecting some channel 9 stooge to quietly lose their job.

That organisation is an incompetent rabble.

If the Dogs game is moved to another day will another game be moved to Friday night? If so which one? None look great (keeping in mind it can't be Melbourne v Manly).

I'd go with Warriors v Raiders. Most likely game to be entertaining and involve two finals contenders.

The afl should move to the Saturday night. Why the hell would we move for them? It's Sydney for gods sake, they are a minority sport here.

The under 20s games presently get televised and draw more viewers than Super 15s rugby regularly. This is largely because the games are played at grounds already set up for television that day, and as such the additional cost of production would be minimal. Its a handy bonus that we get to include in our TV rights deal.

If these games get moved to other grounds, this developing product will be completely removed from our screens, along with a large amount of sponsorship value from our code.

Obviously when this happens u20s games will be moved. There will be guidelines for the maximum amount of footy allowed per weekend at ANZ/SFS and if a round ever approaches that they can just shift u20s to somewhere else.

Their thinking about teams that are battling it out for the 8.

More at stake than 3rd Vs 4th.

At least 3 weeks ago when they made the schedule.

The AFL only released their schedule today. Has nothing to do with 9

You are an idiot. There's things called contracts. The AFL picked the timeslot months ago. Channel 9 was stupid enough to not check beforehand for clashes when they picked the NRL schedule for that round a couple of weeks ago.

It's all about first in best dressed. And if it was upto to ANZ to decide on this clash I bet you wouldn't like the one they picked.

Well it would come down to whats better money wise for the code.

U20's on TV or better facilities for fans.

I honestly dont have an answer to that.

Also at present there are only two games of u20's televised. So the other way around it would be keeping ANZ FG games at 5.30 sat or 2pm sun to a minimum.
