Anyone saying the AFL is gonna get 60K is kidding themselves. Seriously how the hell can anyone possibly come up with that ridiculous assumption.

The Swans will be lucky to get 40K - grand final rematch or not. 45K max if they are lucky.

True and it can be a pain getting out there on a Friday night too

Ditto. At least I can fall back on the Swans. You've got Freo and GWS.

I've suffered one too many sporting disappointments in 2012 -I simply can't muster a shit to give anymore. Go the Swans.

And you call yourself a Richmond fan... I've been to 2 Swans and 3 Eagles games (plus a few others), and I live in Brisbane.

f**k it. I'm going back to the Eagles-Swans game I recorded on the weekend.

big hit!

Blue chip event? What? A club game of Victorian rules?

How can they market it when they hadnt released the draw?

Im sick of every AFL game being something massive that everything else should offer their firstborn to!

It's what every successfully run professional league should be capable of achieving. It's called great marketing and promotion.

The NFL also have it in spades.

In contrast, the NRL don't have a clue. A deaf, dumb and mute would've been able to determine from looking at the games of that week that the biggest match was MAN vs MEL. The NRL's flexible scheduling in the final six weeks should have enabled them to collaborate with the broadcasters to accommodate this match in the FTA MAJOR PRIME TIME SLOT.

nah. instead the mongs give us some Parra games (SEVERAL!!), and even two lots of Knights vs Broncos in the last 5 weeks as though any merkin gives a shit about those matches.

seriously, Manly vs Melbourne is the NRL's equivalent of the New England vs Indianopolis vs Pittsburgh rivalry when those three teams were the shit over several years of the NFL in the noughties. And they were always scheduled in the FTA major prime time slot. Neither Manly vs Melbourne game will have been on FTA at all this year.

Oh, and let's not forget how a GF rematch in the NRL was scheduled in an Origin week too with the stars of the game MIA. DUMBf**kS!! Great way to promote the league f**k KNUCKLES!

So instead of the continued blind hatred to a rival league that can promote its game adequately, start criticising the league in charge of the game you support and which is doing it a massive disservice.

The Grand Final rematch had already been played earlier in the year. Remember some dogs nuffie head butting slaters foot.

Agree with the rest of the post though

60000 for the swans game? Their fan base is about 30000 max therefore 30000 Victorians will have to haunt Sydney to get that crowd. No chance.

And JM the art of fishing is all about being subtle.

Oh I get it. Everyone who follows Australian Football is a homosexual. How witty and original.

Sordid sex on website

AFL matches, scout halls, hospitals, supermarkets and cinemas are among venues across Melbourne listed on a gay website as hook-up points for sordid sexual encounters.

The Australian Family Association has called on police to stringently monitor the website, which promotes itself as a "neighbourhood cruising guide" and features more than 15,000 public locations in Australia where gay and bisexual men meet regularly for sex.

The Canadian-based website has been known to police for some time, but recent posts about hardcore sex acts in family-orientated venues have prompted fresh calls for it to be banned.

Men have posted messages about sexual liaisons in toilets during AFL football matches at the MCG and Telstra Dome.

Other disturbing meeting points include:

PUBLIC pools: members openly talk about having oral sex and intercourse at swimming pool toilet blocks and in saunas.

MAJOR shopping centres: toilets, cinemas and change rooms at Southland, Knox and Fountain Gate shopping centres are listed as hot spots for gay activity.

AIRPORT lounges: numerous posts list flight departure times and call for men to loiter near public toilets and lounges on the lookout for potential "targets".

A HOSPITAL: toilets at a major Melbourne hospital are listed as a rendezvous point for gay encounters. According to the listing the toilets are frequented by "visitors, nurses and doctors".

Other locations include public parks and gardens, lifesaving club toilets, public libraries and a scout hall.

The site also includes a guide titled "Help In Case You Are Arrested".

Police spokeswoman Cassandra Stone said: "We are aware that these types of places exist and we actively patrol them."

Australian Family Association state secretary Angela Conway said the public domain was not the place for sexual activity.

"This sort of hyper-sexualised culture is just not a good thing for families with young children to have to encounter," Ms Conway said.

"It is disgusting that the community's free use of these facilities is being compromised in this way."
